Patriots?

If Hostile is right, and we sign Springs as well - we are bringing in proven vet. leaders to mix with the talent we already have on this team.

Springs - vet. to help bring along our young CB's. A whole heck of alot better than bringing in Adam Jones. Not to mention, a big step up from Henry.

Brookings - vet. LB with leadership skills. Z. Thomas was not know for his leadership skills...but thats all anyone says about Brookings. He has a mean streak in him as well....something WE NEED!!

Kitna - well, can't say this one fits the bill - but huge upgrade from Johnson. If Romo goes down again this year - there is no doubt I will feel 100% better than lastyear. Not to mention, he wants to win. He'll give 120% everytime he is on the field. He has a fire about him as well.

I don't know if it reminds me of the Patriots, but your reasoning sounds very good. I agree. But still draft at all these positions to groom as well.

So long as we aren't counting on Brooking to be a 3 down player, I'm pleased with the veteran additions. Brooking, Kitna, and Springs can still play.

I think Henry was a good player but counting on a CB to move to FS is just stupid.

Shawn Springs is not that good, never has been. I certainly hope we do not sign Springs.
We have never signed any Commanders cast off, and I believe we will not start now.

We just need to let our youngsters play.

Perhaps the dumbest approach a team can take is refusing to sign someone b/c he played for a specific other team.

Go ask TO if he's no good.

And no this doesn't remind me of the Patriots. The Patriots sign crafty vets with a little left who fit their system. I don't see where Brooking fits that criteria. He's Zach Thomas, maybe worse, with a bit more poundage and that worked out SO well.

Shaun Spring will be a good addition to the team along with Keith Brookings and John Kinta. :)

The Patriots are on a whole new level. They get the most out of their roster and then are able to the most in the trades they make.

I really hate the Patriots, but they don't even have to cheat because they draft so well and make smart decisions with personnel.

I hope all of this works out like that.

I'm remaining on the optimistic side.

Shawn Springs - as a Commanders fan I have to say can help you guys . When healthy he was probably our best CB ...though Rogers was starting to take that spot from him .

Watching Skins games I hardly remeber his number being called which is always good for a DB .

The problem is he was becoming more and more fragile . The Skins FO went for a youth movement with Hall. Hall is not the same kind of player Springs is, Springs is very physical and can hang witht the tough WR in the league butstill has the speed to make plays downfield ..

Springs has had a bunch of very good seasons.

Whether we sign him, and whether he's any good next season, are left to be seen.

 I swear I hadn't read this when I posted in the thread on Brooking. Belichick probably wouldn't have traded for Kitna, preferring to instead find someone on the street, but it's still very much the same.

Now let's get Springs in here.

Free-agent cornerback Shawn Springs to visit Patriots on Sunday

09:36 PM EST on Saturday, February 28, 2009

BY SHALISE MANZA YOUNG
Journal Sports Writer

Veteran cornerback Shawn Springs, released by the Commanders in a salary-cap move, will visit the New England Patriots on Sunday.

The number three overall pick in 1997 out of Ohio State, Springs spent the last five seasons in Washington, and was cut in order for the Skins to save more than $6 million against the salary cap -- money that will go to DL Albert Haynesworth, whom the team signed to a $100 million contract hours after the start of free agency, and OL Derrick Dockery.

Springs played in nine games last season, with 36 tackles, one interception and seven passes defensed; there apparently was some talk of having the 6-foot, 207 pounder play some safety.

It reminds me of Jerry Jones desperation.

Niether of the contracts for those guys scream of "desperation"

desperation would have been paying 8-9-10 mil a yr for soembody like Ray Lewis

Lil Bill doesn't waste his time on Kitna, same as we shouldn't have. He finds another former unknown like Brady once was.

And then last year, he certainly doesn't make THAT trade for Roy Williams. He goes first tier WR, cheap- or 2nd tier, cheaper.

But one thing we do have similar is, our approach to the rest of the league calling us out- we laugh, then we say nothing, like it's none of anybodies business. Or at least that's Jerry, now if we only had a Lil Bill as coach. And personally, I think the two would work brilliantly together and flip this league on it's head. I think they would both seriously get a "kick" out of it, too. I mean really, imagine for one second Lil Bill with Dallas Cowboy Head Coach Power and Jerry Jones having his back!

Though until then, we're nothing like them because we don't have ourselves a Lil Bill. We have a stay-"fun" marshmallow man whose proven his career long that he doesn't have what it takes to be a HC in this league. We have a stay-"rich" marshmallow man who won't ever do what it takes to bring in a HC worth a damn and thinks he can basically do it himself, still. And until Jerry Jones can taste the gun powder residue still in the air from an actual REAL HC in this league, like a Bellichek, we'll never be anything like the NE Patriots past an owner whom would work well with their current coach who doesn't seem to be going anywhere anytime soon.

TO will tell you he's very good with help over the top on every play and he's absolutely correct. Don't act as if SS checked TO 1 on 1 with no help, Irvin and Deion pointed this out many times.. So yeah, go ask TO just how good SS is. I live here in the DC area and I can tell you, the guy stays hurt and never wants to practice.
