now that Roy is out for the year w/ the broken arm, who comes into the 53 man to replace him?

we currently have Hamlin, Davis & Brown on the roster, with Watkins as a maybe b/c it sounds like his neck issue is more serious than anyone thought.

do we bring in another safety? do we bring in another CB to let Henry do more work at Safety?

any thoughts?

Popular response will be Ty Law and move Anthony Henry to Safety. In all honesty, I can't see them wasting their time with anyone but one of our practice squad players.

Does it matter since they are not going to change the outcome of the rest of the year

So basically game over, resigned to giving up on season.

I don't support that plan.

I've always scoffed at the idea of moving Henry to safety, but I'm starting to change my tune. Moving Hamlin over and sliding Henry back to safety might be a possibility now.

What would we do at corner? That would move Alan Ball into our top 3.

As for replacing Roy ... it's a shame we'd be asking for too much to replace him with a player that actually does something.

Brilliant Nors, once again you show your wit. They are on our practice squad for a reason, guys like Ty Law are on the street for another. You figure it out from there.

I think any move would obviously have to wait until we get Newman back. Either way, we're hurting pretty bad in the secondary.

If I'm Jerry I sign OLB Dan Bazuin and put him on IR. Do the same w/OL Charles Spencer.

Then lure/coerce/beg Larry Allen to come out of retirement to play half a season. The LG spot needs to be upgraded. Plus LA would be the enforcer on the OL, kicking Flo's butt back in line.

Finally free up 3 more spots on the roster. Like Bill always says, gotta keep churning the bottom of the roster, especially in times like these. Put Watkins on IR, cut Justin Rogers and Joe Berger.

Sign Ty Law (play corner or FS, or even just on nickel/dime packages). Even if he is not a significant upgrade to Jenkins, he brings a championship mentality to the D. He has been there, done that (even more recently and more often than LA). Even w/a lost step or three, he is still smarter, more savvy than ANYONE currently in the secondary_that includes every dang secondary coach from Maxie, to Campo, to frikkin Stewart. He can be the TRUE coach on the field.

With the last 2 available roster spots, go find some big fast physical hitters/blockers from other teams' PS who can improve the ST. I really like the Eagles' PS rook OLB Andy Studebaker (6'3 255 4.5) for one spot. Jim Johnson coverted the prolific small school pass rusher into a SAM LB and he was sparkling on STs in the preseason. The second spot would go towards bringing in a FB, preferrably one bigger than Deon Anderson (I'm leaning towards TE/H-Back Kolo Kapanui who is 6'4 270 and runs a 4.6).

Or Darren Woodson in his prime.

Hell I would take Thomas Everett or James Washington right now.
