CLE, CIN, NYJ, BUF and a struggling SD at home.

Why are they any better than Dallas?

3 of those 5 teams suffered major injuries during their games.

Jamal Lewis, JP Losman, and 2 Bengals linebackers

And? We played a struggling Chicago and a bunch of teams that aren't doing great.

Oh yeah, NE has won like 80% of their games over the past 6 years or so. That might be it.

Exactly. The comparison is not being made based solely on this current season. If it were then both teams would be pretty equal. New England has the advantage because of their past success, which is pretty recent. They were in the AFC championship game and very close to winning. Dallas meanwhile stumbled into the playoffs and lost in the wildcard round.

all you people that feel so slighted that dallas isn't getting any respect just need to build a bridge and get over it. you EARN respect, no one hands it out like candy. NE whether you like it or not is the default dynasty - hopefully dynasty in decline. in a what have you done for me lately we're a decade behind and coming up strong in the fast lane sure -

- but we've not won anything of consequence as of yet, have we?

no.

*IF* we beat NE then we're a step closer. But we're still not there till we make some valid noise in the playoffs. Till then people will dog us, berate us, bayless us to death. IT'S GONNA HAPPEN. getting mad at them for being who they are is as much a waste of time as screaming at the wind for blowing.

i don't want anyone to hand us anything - i want this team to EARN it and then no matter what is said it just doesn't mean anything because we've got our own skins to point to

This era of the NFL is very much "what have you done for me lately". Each season is almost a toss up and success from even the previous season can be discounted somewhat.

As you mentioned, the Patriots are getting some slack due to their AFCCG appearance last January. We'll see if that success will really carry over to this season. New England won a Super Bowl at the end of the '01 season, won the first three games of the '02 season and finished as an onlooker holding a 9-7 record.

The games are decided on the field these days. We'll see how good they really are, but not until they have played the whole season--just like everybody else.

I have really never understood the concept behind A Team has not played anybody so they must be a nobody until proven otherwise.

What if B team beats A team who is 5-0 but has not played anybody, does that mean that B team still has not played anybody?

You play whoever is on the schedule and that is about all you can do and then make a judgement call on how well your team has played.

some are out there looking for an angle to make things right in their head before the game is even played.

i'll just wait, watch, and see what happens.

probably has something to do with how they won those games

and the one common opponent we have, they destroyed and we needed a miracle

Being a Longhorns fan I can say just because Texas was winning games did not change the facts of how they were playing in those game. It was easy to see they were winning sloppy games. In the case of the Pats it is true they were not playing the best teams out there but the Pats played outstanding football in their wins. Same could be said for Dallas except for the Bills game

The media likes to overlook the fact that New England hasn't played anybody either. Yet for some reason it is the single most important reason to them why we will lose this game.

Now don't take this the wrong way.

When you haven't won in a while, and you have a new coaching staff, people will tend to reserve judgement until they show they are competitive with a recently "good" team.

If the Cowboys lose to NE, but it is a good game...they will get all of the accolades most Cowboys fans are looking for.

Personally, I prefer being under the radar, underrated, win some close ones but they were hard fought. Although there is nothing wrong with a blowout either...

Thanks, because I thought I was the only one noticingh any of that. Every team the've beaten has a sub 500 record.

I am kinda enjoying being the heavy underdog in this game. I'm hoping that the amount of disprespect being thrown our way really fires up the team and they come out strong on Sunday. It happened with Buffalo. They were disrespected all week at home and when game time finally rolled around they came out and nearly got the win.

Is this thread ultimately about Dallas not getting the respect they deserve?

Cripe! Get over it already. Do you want us declared the champion of the 1st 3rd of the season and awarded a trophy?

I don't think that means a whole lot to anybody.

This game is a chance to see how we measure up at this juncture. And what any media person has to say or write about that NOW means absolutely ZERO after Sunday. It seems like some people can't see that.

Even Sunday is not our Super Bowl. Not by any stretch. Its a step along that possible path. Its an opportunity to further develop this team. And we ARE still a work in process. Last week made that abundantly clear.

Maybe I'm diminishing this a bit too much but I honestly am looking at this as kind of a "pre-season post-season" game or "exhibition post-season" game if you get my drift. Absolutely of great interest, but it doesn't count on our post-season record anymore than a true preseason game counts on your regular season record.

It seems crazy but the W-L aspect of this game seems like the least significant of any of our regular season games. Its non-division, non-conference, and its NOT a game we NEED to win to capture our division, or homefield playoff rights. Those games are coming. Last week was one of those games. Lose that one, and now you're looking at the schedule for who you can "make-up" that win against since we're decidedly better than Buffalo and supposed to win.

Not saying I don't want to win. Not saying I don't want to be declared the best. I just think this game is getting a bit overhyped in the eyes of some fans.

We deserve all the credit that comes with beating the Giants, Dolphins, Bears, Rams & Bills. Nothing more at this point.
