Has anybody had a good opportunity to watch more then just a couple of games from him?

To me, the only thing I saw missing was real arm strength. Is he Matt Schaub all over again?

I would be interested in hearing first hand accounts of him as well.

While I don't think we will take a QB early, it wouldn't surprise me if we took one in the later rounds of the draft.....and I wonder if Olsen fits that bill.

I feel the same way about Drew Stanton.
Haven't seen much of him either. I'm just going off of stats.

Forget Drew Olsen. His #'s are inflated BIG TIME by playin in the PAC 10 with absolutely no defenses out there. Not to mention UCLA D was rated like 111 in the the NCAA, putting him on the field throwing all the time. I watched them play ASU this year & that game was an absolute joke. He had like 300 yards in ONE Q just cause the D's were so bad & gave up 70 yard plays time & time again.

He also has a very low release point & gets a lot of passes batted down at the line. Lack of arm strengh as well.

He is a career 3rd stringer if he is lucky in the NFL.

Drew Stanton has a much bigger upside than Olsen.

Too many damn Drews.

Don't we already have 2 on the roster at QB?
Let's sign Brees and draft Stanton so we can have all the Drews on lock.

I agree. I like Stanton but I don't think he is coming out this year.

I have only seen a couple games of Drew Olsen's. He reminded me of Jason White to be honest. He can be accurate, but just seemed really stiff to me.

I totally agree, the Pac 10 is the last place I would look for a qb, they don't know anything about defense in that conference.

Two too many if you ask me, so why go for more.

Olson, Tate, Weatherford.

I think if you want your kid to be a QB, you better name him Drew.

Excuse me? The pac 10 has had some of the best W/R that have come into the NFL. The Pac-10 also is one of the better passing conferences in College Football. I like Olsen but I'm a Bruin so my opinion would be biased.

Olsen's the most accurate college passer I've seen since Aikman. Not comp % accurate, only his WR can catch it accurate.

I have serious questions about his arm strength though. I don't know if it's strong enough to play in the NFL. The combine will really tell the tale with him.

Mechanically, really solid setup, nice footwork on the drop but loses it somewhat when asked to move. I'm not a fan of his release point but can't argue with success.

I'll be real interested to get his true measurements at the combine. Looks and plays much smaller than the program listing.

When he talks QB it is best to just laugh at him. He doesn't know a damned thing about the position.

In other words, he's never heard of Carson Palmer, Drew Bledsoe, Mark Brunnell, Joey Harrington, Kyle Boller, or Jake Plummer.

Name me another conference that has that many starting QBs.

:wink2:

I've seen him play a few times. He rpobably most reminds me of Chad Pennington. Not a huge arm, but makes decent reads and is accurate. I figure he'll go around the 3rd round and could be a pretty good backup while learning the NFL. I don't see him as a future star, but he could do it if he worked hard enough.

I watched about 6 UCLA games this year and wasn't unimpressed with Olsen's arm strength. He puts great touch on his deep balls and is very accurate. I would be happy if we drafted him. The last time we drafted a QB from UCLA it didn't work out too bad. (Although I'm not comparing him to Aikman, there is no comparison)
