First off, Mods, this probably isn't in the correct forum, but I think since most of us have an interest in McFadden, I thought it was warranted here.

But I have a question for any of you who watch ALOT of Razorbacks football, I've only seen a couple of games, and from what I've seen, McFadden looks incredible, but I have a question thats been bugging me for a few weeks.....

Felix Jones's "average" ypc is almost double what McFaddens is. Now I could understand if he only has a few carries a game and breaks one, but if you look at his stats, you'll see that he gets alot more than just a few "garbage" runs at the end of the game.

I guess what I'm saying is I'd hate to spend a draft pick on a RB who turns out to be a "system back", ala.......every damn running back Shanahan has had in Denver". I'm not saying McFadden is a system back, but watching Felix Jones have great success does make me wonder just a little bit.

Any insight you hardcore Razorbacks fans could give would be greatly appreciated.

Some of Jones' yards come when McFadden is at QB running the option.

As a defender, who are you gonna pay more attention to, McFadden or Jones?

Not saying that's the only reason Jones gets yards, just one of the reasons. He's also a very good RB.

Jones is a perimeter runner. with the speed in the NFL hes not going to see nearly as much daylight.

McFadden runs between the tackles AND has the ability to break it outside. In short his game is more suited for the NFL.

Agree with Fuzzy.

It's hard to explain -- as many yards as Felix gets, he's not a surprise to anyone anymore. So it's not like he just gets cheap yards. But McFadden gets unbelievable attention from defenses, and when he doesn't get the ball, it opens things up for other people. I also think defenses relax just a little when he goes out, even knowing that Jones is very good, too.

And it's also what FZ said, that Jones seems to get all his yards in space, versus McFadden who runs up the middle much more. Felix is a lot smaller, so he probably won't be seen as a feature back in the NFL.

But part of it too is that Felix is just very good in his own right. He was pretty highly recruited and just stayed close to home. (He's from Tulsa.)

I don't know how good Jones will be as a pro, but it almost reminds me a little of Thurnan Thomas and Barry Sanders at OSU, just because Jones is the backup and the kick returner, and is great at it. (I'm *not* saying these guys will be as good as those guys at all.)
