Who is more deserving?

After reading many Commander fans bemoaning the injusticeof Monk not being in the Hall, I decided to analyze his stats compared to two cowboys who I think should be in, Irvin and Hayes.

On rankings, no doubt Monk looks like he was a dominate WR during his career but looks can be decieving. Looking at the numbers, he played 70 more games than Irvin and over 90 more than Hayes. So what is the best way to compare? Per game averages.

Adjusting Irvin's and Hayes's game total to match Monk's. The chart shows that if those two would have played as many games as long as Monk, there would be no comparsion.

Just for fun, I did the same calculation comparing Irvin and Rice and othe than TDs, the two are very similar.

I am not saying that Monk does not belong in the HOF, just that Hayes and Irvin deserve it more.

I am having trouble coverting the chart for good viewing. I will edit it as soon as I can.

I tried to figure this out in my head and came up with these numbers:

Art Monk- E7.9999.f.9ajksdfs
Michael Irvin-E.928347nkfnajksdhf
Bob Hayes-E.238945whf87s23
Jerry rice-E.92836489f8sdh987234985

The comparison is moot. Irvin WILL get in, its just a matter of time. Monk will not, ever.

Good excercise - but I think if you're going to do it, you have to factor a drop in production for players playing as long as Monk. JMO.

Well, the basic response from Skins fans is 'He played during an era that was run heavy, yadayada'

I think its best to look at his stats compared to other recievers during his time. Sure he was Top 10 a couple years but really was just not a dominate force compared to how Irvin performed compared to his peers.

Also, can we get some love for Pearson while we're on the topic. He deserves it just as much as the next guy.

Here is the stat that matters:

Bob Hayes- Was responsible for the development of the Zone D. No one could cover him. Can Monk say that?

Irvin- Was arguably the most important member of three super bowl championships.

I don't give a big rats *** about stats. Art Monk, Drew Pearson and Michael Irvin all deserve to be in the HoF every bit as much as Lynn Freakin' Swann. And Bullet Bob Hayes is more deserving than any of them. The HoF is a Freakin' Joke if the likes of these guys can't get in.

*bits tongue and sits on hands to keep HoF rant from hitting full stride*

What's more interesting is that if Irvin would have played amay games as rice at his per game averages, he would have match rice in every category except TDs. That tells me Irvin is more than deserving.

I do not see Irvin lasting as long as Rice did. THOUGH clearly Rice SHOULD have retired at least a couple of years sooner then he did.

Isn't this like asking, "Whose son is the better student: my A student or your A student?"
