Who is Nick Hayden and why was he available?

Anyone have a little insight to this guy? He looks pretty good so far and seems he might help out some in the running game. Having said that it's a little disappointing Lissemore has not made more of the opportunity.

I'm starting to wonder if Lissemore makes the club. He has had an extremely quiet camp/pre-season.
