That is a lot to ask for CC but can be accomplished, maybe another decade or so, if we are lucky as a fan base.
This current FO does not understand the very basic fundamentals that you speak of.
Doesn't understand? When the truth is:

As a fan ... I can't get a good read on this game. Wonder why? We really don't know who is going to play at quarterback and for how long. I would guess Trey Lance plays the most, and probably will start. And with that, again ... who knows what to expect. The Commanders don't really have a read on him but with a Dan Quinn defense, they'll do what any aggressive defense would do to a young quarterback that hasn't played a lot - attack him all day.

My guess is that Lance makes a few plays with his feet, a few with his arm and makes a few mistakes as well. Since Washington needs to win to get the No. 6 seed, I see the Commanders playing hard and definitely trying to avoid a sweep.

Now, what do you as a fan see?

Jayden Daniels was already playing great football for Washington, and he's continued to do so with thrilling back to back wins over Philadelphia and Atlanta in the last two games. The only issue that he's having as of late is turnovers, with at least one interception in five of his last six games.

So, Dallas will be trying all game to get at the quarterback. That and turn overs.

I think Mike McCarthy and Mike Zimmer both empty the playbooks, not knowing what their future holds anyway, and the same goes for a lot of players who will be heading to free agency in a few weeks and could benefit from making the finale into a highlight reel.

With two 'new' quarterbacks, that means execution mistakes and stopped drives or turn-overs.

Washington then will be under a how soon and how large a lead watch.

Dallas fans are set at watching both sides of the ball lines and cringing at obvious mistakes and turnovers.

The Cowboys defensive line met a brick wall last week and managed to register zero sacks against Philadelphia. The end result of that lack of pressure was two backup quarterbacks throwing at will with little to worry about and that was seen in the final score. When faced with trying to hold back Saquon Barkley, the Cowboys defensive line failed to contain the explosive running back. Barkley had 31 rush attempts and averaged 5.4 yards per carry for a whopping 167 rushing yards against Dallas. This maybe the last game we see players like Osa Odighizuwa, Chauncey Golston and new additions in Linval Joseph and Carl Lawson, so be prepared for an offseason of question marks on those players and where they end up playing next season.

This is the reality of the current watching and how coaches react to game time changes. Even Jerry can't live in never...never land.

The Commanders defensive line was once the cornerstone of its roster and something every team feared coming in to face them. Now it’s less of a threat and in some cases it needs some serious overhauling. The defensive line have created the ninth-fewest pressures this year and 41 total sacks, which is less than Dallas. What adds to the problems for this defensive line is also the run stopping, where they rank fifth-worst. The last time these two teams met, Dante Fowler was leading the league in sacks but he went on a four-game streak without recording a sack and in the last six weeks he’s only managed to make two sacks. He now ranks tenth in the league in total sacks and 14th in tackles for loss.

This is where Washington lost a strength. Dallas should not do the very same thing and lose a strength to collect more cap.

For run defense, we are watching Kendricks and Liufau to see successes happen.

This boils down to injuries and lack of options for the Dallas secondary. They’ve been the rock that’s tried to break the tide for much of the season, but we saw that tide crash over them easily last week and that signifies this unit has reached its limit.

This has the indicators of another large loss for this current team of Cowboys.

This could improve draft positioning...

49ers over Cardinals
Colts over Jaguars

Indianapolis over Jacksonville is obvious. The Jaguars are out of reach and Indy is currently tied with Dallas in overall record. They also have a lower SOS of .473 compared to .508 for the Cowboys and would maintain that tiebreaker if both teams lose. So if Dallas is going to move past the Colts in the draft order, we need to get behind them in the overall standings.

While the 49ers winning would only move them into an overall tie with Dallas, they have a high .574 SOS that should cost them the tiebreaker. That would allow the Cowboys to potentially climb into that 11th spot.

If Arizona loses and Dallas wins, that does mean both teams finish 8-9 on the year. But the Cardinals’ current .547 SOS shouldn’t drop low enough to fall below the Cowboys, so we’d still have the tiebreaker.

I'll watch. Or rather - turn it on and be in the room a lot of the time. If nothing exciting is happening by mid 3rd Q it'll probably go off.

Understand a Junior High Coach? How about your children's High School Coaches? Sport still important to adults? What guides it as well?

Don't cop out and just say money...

So you are ok with them allowing running the ball backwards?
Take your own insult of assumption and answer your own question. That was NOT presented to you. Stopping the run is a major problem in all the large losses. What exactly is the intended wisdom not posted? Your addition...duh.

How is the run defense being taken care of, Ace?

I'll again state I am observing the problem area that needs fixing.:hammer:

I can't watch unless NFL network replays the game - and I am pretty sure they won't. But if I could watch it would be to watch the young guys that I hope Dallas gives a lot of playing time. I don't really care if Lance plays or not. I don't think he is an NFL talent and I don't think Dallas should re-sign him.

But I want Dallas to give Schoonmaker, Luepke, Asim Richards, Ryan Flournoy and Vaughn some real playing time. Let's see what they have and if Washington plays their starters, all the better.

Does Schoonmaker have anything to offer? I want to see some run after catch because so far that seems to be missing from his game.

Is Luepke more than a blocker? If that's all he has then why keep him? I am sure they can find a bigger better blocker in the backfield that him. Give him more receiving opportunities., and some handoffs.

I suspect Asim Richards is already better than Edoga. But maybe he is better than Guyton at LT? Let's find out.

Flournoy has shown an ability to get open. And he seems to have some run after catch ability. Give him 7 or 8 targets - if not more - and let's see what he has to give us.

Finally, there is Deuce. I don't think Deuce is an NFL player. But RBs need more than 1 or 2 carries per game to get into the flow. Make Deuce the #1 back and see how he does. Get him in space and see if he can make NFL defenders miss. I am willing to give him another shot. Last chance though.

Dowdle is now one of just six players in Cowboys history to post a season average of 4.7 yards per carry on a minimum of 200 attempts, joining Emmitt Smith, Tony Dorsett, Ezekiel Elliott, DeMarco Murray and Marion Barber.

https://insidethestar.com/is-this-college-player-the-better-pick-for-the-dallas-cowboys-in-april

Project that being observed with the potential of adding this to the running group roster:

I think Skattebo would be a solid back for the Cowboys.

Through the last week of the season they rank 28th in the NFL in yards/rush, 27th in rush yards per game at 97.2, and .3 rush touchdowns a game, which ranks dead last in the NFL.

Cam runs HARD. In 13 games this season Skattebo rushed for 1,568 yards and 19 touchdowns, while also having receiving upside. He caught 37 passes for 506 yards and an additional three touchdowns.

https://insidethestar.com/is-this-college-player-the-better-pick-for-the-dallas-cowboys-in-april

With today's offensive line, the return of Prescott, and Skattebo...how would that affect the Cowboys?

I admit I'm a major homer fan, have been my entire life so I will watch the final game vs the Washington team just to keep my record str8.
I just don't pay as close attention anymore, but I'm always trying to identify young talent when they are given the chance, so I watch for that reason only now.
If you are watching this final game, what are your looking for?
In 1989 we had only 1 win and that was vs the Washington team and we knocked them out of playoff contention, was worth the entire season of suffrage.
Looking for a better draft position. Yes, individual performances, but let's be honest as for evaluating anything with the Commanders resting starters it's as useful as the second half of a pre-season friendly.

Watch KC’s big effective no name linebackers!

They are smarter than everyone else.

They have the best QB in football and what do they do? Give him the best Defense in football with the best Defensive Coordinator.
Absolutely.

KC truly followed the Bellychickens NE super bowl winning teams. Spend your money/resources on D and let the great QB get by w/ whatever you can draft/sign reasonably. Let high priced WRs walk, as they quite simply are not the primary component to winning a super bowl.

Who did KC pay? QB, of course. Then, interior disruptor, chain moving TE, C, and OLine. And who did they draft? Interior disruptors. WRs who are either burners or sharp route runners. OLs.

Did you notice the lack of flash in their drafting? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Andy Reid and Bill Bellichick are both old school on both sides of the ball.

Washington has to win this one.
