*KJJ,

I have a family emergency happening right now as we reply to each other, so allow me to use brevity and quickly make this point while I deal with more urgent matters.

I was wrong (sigh) but in a way, I'm kind of right. I could easily take "pot shots" at your argument (e.g. What Jimmy could've accomplished had he stayed, Landry's relationship with Staubach, the '77 team vs. '02 team, Hershel Walker [which was absolutely ridiculous on your part], the Cowboys record in SBs under Landry, my "delusional"ness verses you're "retartedness" and wow, I'm drawing a blank about the rest...oh yea, Landry vs. Johnson and which one was better as a head coach).

The fact is that I can't change your mind about Landry anymore than you can change mine about Johnson.

Why don't we try to find some common ground, shall we?

Here's what I propose: Let's say that you and I are college roommates and decide to take a course on Shakespeare together for our English requirements. Okay, now let's further say that you decide not to attend all the classes while I'm there for all of them. So good, so far, right? Now, let's continue further along and say that you and I have a final exam with said course. I study using the assigned text book to study but you decide that the cliff notes version is better for you.

With that said, we both pass the course (and get the same grade), but you take less time to study while I study everything that encompasses the works of William Shakespeare.

Now, Landry is Shakespeare but Johnson is the cliff notes.

Would that make more sense with where we're at?

That must be some family emergency because what comparison is there between the 77 team that won the SB and the 02 team that went 5-11? LOL So you think my comments on the Hershel Walker trade were ridiculous and your insinuation that had Landry had the option to make that trade he would have done the exact same thing? LOL Yeah Landry and Tex were a couple of riverboat gamblers. :laugh2: Right Landry had plenty of time to go from from 3-13 to 1-15 and be retained the next 3 years. Instead of studying Shakespeare and reciting quotes from Hamlet you need to study Cowboys history because this debate has to do with football not Shakespeare. If you want to discuss Shakespeare go find a message board for poets and playwrights. LOL By the way Professor it's spelled "retardedness" not "retartedness"....LMAO! Whatever the emergency is it's really got you rattled or is it me who's rattled you? :p:

My grammar and spelling are impeccable you're just looking to divert from the topic because every point you make gets vaporized. LOL If I wanted to waste my time sifting through your posts searching for some silly grammatical errors I could find them but I don't need to divert from the topic. It makes you look foolish pointing out common grammatical errors that even the President makes just to nit pick because you're being frustrated in this debate.

Okay, that's it. I have officially grown tired of you and will call out, "SHENANIGANS!!!".

But rather than taking my broom out and beating your arse with it, I demand a poll be taken, instead, between who the better coach was for this franchise: Landry or Johnson

You've already conceded that you're in the minority with believing your choice is not the popular one. But I'd like to see just how far in minority you actually are.

So let's do this, because I'm no longer in the business of trying to convince you of my choice just like you should no longer be in the business of trying to convince me of your choice.

Oh my God, you're actually doubting me? And on top of that you're making light of it?

This thread needs to be closed quickly because I'm openly calling this idiot out.

I'll be damned if a simpleton like this makes fun of something egregious like a family emergency.

KJJ,

Once again, you have no idea who I am but I'm prepared to show you.

You can expect a pm from me shortly because I'm not inclined to break anymore rules around here.

Because it is so on.

In a poll everyone would pick Landry over Jimmy in a landslide. Jimmy wasn't a true Cowboy and was only around 5 years. He left the team high and dry for another team. Many Cowboy fans are still bitter about the way it all ended and you may be one of those fans. Jimmy's the one who rocked the boat bringing up other teams he wanted to coach. Landry's in the ROH and HOF and Jimmy will never be inducted in either. Even though I wasn't a Tom Landry fan I recognize he was a great coach who started with the franchise from the very beginning and helped mold the team into a great organization. He was a coaching icon and would be ranked right there with Staubach as the greatest Cowboy ever. Even though he handled the Staubach/Morton situation poorly he picked the right QB in the end and it paid off. Jimmy proved he wouldn't last 28 years in the NFL. He was a very emotionally demanding coach and eventually burned out and quit in Miami. I liked Jimmy's coaching style and enthusiasm better than Landry's stoic demeanor and I liked his teams better than Landry's because no one could beat Jimmy's teams in big games. He got the most out of his teams and Landry didn't.

Jimmy was my favorite Cowboys coach and I got more enjoyment watching the Cowboys during the 5 years he was in Dallas than the 17 years I did watching Landry's teams. Don't get me wrong I loved watching Staubach to Pearson and some of the great comebacks the Cowboys had from the time I began following the team in 71 but the disappointing big game losses title games/SB's frustrated me. I didn't see any enthusiasm or physicality with Landry's teams that I saw with Jimmy's teams. Had Landry stepped down before the 3 consecutive NFC title losses in the early 80's and the decline that followed I might not feel as harshly about him but I grew bitter from all the disappointing losses especially the loss to the 49ers in the 81 NFC title game. Watching his prevent defense fold during the 49ers final drive in that title game really turned me against Landry. I came to the conclusion after that game that the Cowboys were doomed if he stuck around much longer...BINGO!
