Testimony to when contracts were given and to their successful careers I would have never guessed Romo being #1 congrats

It’s not too shocking as he played QB in the modern era, but I’m surprised Tony is #1 overall.
I assumed when I read the title it was either Romo (highest paid position + semi modern era) or Peters since Peters played forever at a tier 1 position (LT)

Thielen shocked me, what a terrible contract (he was a 1000 yard receiver in only 2 out of 9 seasons)

98-2009 vs 2005-2016 I’d never guess Romo would earn that much more. Sign of the times I guess
Romo began his career with the Cowboys in 2003 earning $540,000 for 2003-2004 in his first contract.

Twice as much as K. Warner. Ouch
Warner's last season was 2009; it was the mid-2010s decade when the QB contracts skyrocketed.
And - looking at a couple of contract / salary websites - almost a rhird of his career earnings was paid fhat final year = $19 million.

What is more telling to me about that list is how long he and Peters played. 14+ year careers are going to top most aggregate lists in this set. I would be more interested in those total averaged for their career length.

I forgot Jason Peters' story.

As for Romo.....That makes sense.
The more recent you are, the higher that number will be, especially if you are a Pro Bowl QB who played a fair number of years.

Ironically, both were UDFAs - Romo following the 2003 draft, Peters the same situation a year later.
Romo___162 games total (regular seasons + playoffs); 103 QB starts.
Peters___245 games total (rs + ps); 226 starts on the OLine.
