He was promoted in the off-season. He is officially in Pro Personnel; however, I keep hearing that he is heavily involved in the draft also.

Broaddus and Fisher are both hyping him; although, I think some of Fisher's info comes from Broaddus.

Somebody, probably one of them, was has said that they expect McClay to get offers to be a GM or at least Head of Scouting with another team.

As WG mentioned, Broaddus said that McClay was going to be pushing hard to avoid players with injury issues.

Like Sean Lee?

Possibly; although, you have to decide what defines injury prone. I don't think you can avoid all players that are injured or have had an injury.

Example:

Player A: Missed 1 year of college with a torn ACL, but never missed any other games or had any other injuries.

Player B: Missed 1 or more games every year but never missed more than 1/3 of a season.

I wouldn't have a problem drafting player A. Many players have had 1 ACL injury and return to a long NFL and healthy NFL career.

Player B, IMO, is more of an indication of a chronically injured player.

The other issue is that the value of draft picks under the current CBA is primarily during the 4 years of their rookie contract. This is when they are cheap. Teams must get production from these players during this time in order to manage the salary cap. If you draft a player that is doubtful to contribute in year 1, then you're automatically losing 1/4 of his value.

McClay IMO has done a fantastic job as pro personne director. He's found nice players for this football team: incuding Selvie, Durant, Hayden, Laurent Robinson, etc.

The guys brought the team off their couches in some cases were JAGS, but some plugged in nicely and were able to contribute.
