1.) Even though we debated it, Rush is the only logical answer.

When Dak got hurt, I was looking at Bengals as a loss and maybe figured we'd skid a few games. With Dak being out for the estimated 5-6 weeks my magical number for him was two wins. When we beat the Bengals I was pretty confident we could beat the Giants/WASH and even though I wasn't sure about the Rams game I knew it was possible he could win. I like Dak, I won't lie, but Cooper Rush not only saved the season he and Mike Mccarthy helped the whole team.

Yep, Smith. The pre-season downer that he couldn't beat out McGovern at Guard to decent LT.
Pollard,Wilson, Steele honourable mentions.

.....then again it's difficult to leave Bland off the list. A NORMAL year we'd be happy with him, Sam or Damone as being the surprise.

tough question. We went into the season with a rookie LT, Armstrong with a bigger role on defense, Maher and our backup QB was a practice squad callup.

Rush played the position perfectly for a bus driver. Limited mistakes and made some good throws when he needed to. Yes, it was the defense that kept the games close but Rush did well by playing smart football.
Tyler Smith at LT seemed like a trainwreck waiting to happen. Barely played the position in training camp/pre-season. His scouting report said he had the physical talent but was raw with his hands. Then he's thrust onto the role 2 weeks prior to the Bucs game vs Shaq Barrett. He looked like he was a day 1 starter this year. All pro? No, but definitely good with huge upside.
Maher was a hated man here his first stint. Could drill a 55 yarder to then miss a 37 yarder wide right. This year he's found his groove and has been clutch from any distance.
Armstrong has stepped up big time on defense and special teams. 8 sacks in 12 games, average/above vs the run as well. What was thought to be a panic signing turned out to be a great deal.

For me though, it's Tyler Smith. Playing one of the hardest spots to play in the NFL, he provided not only good pass blocking but run blocking as well. I mean, it's common to see even higher drafted tackles struggle year 1 and 2. He has had one or two meh games but the rest he has done exceptionally well.

We've got a bunch of really solid contributors this year, when a lot of us (not all) were expecting a significant drop off.

Just curious who have been your biggest pleasant surprises?

While I've been a fan of Tony Pollard, and we've seen what he can do, he's really broken out this season. I think we all wondered how much of a heavier load he could actually handle, and boy has he answered the call.

I think he's got to be my pick, with honorable mentions going to terrence steele and dorrance armstrong.
There have been so many!
One reason why we have overperformed this year.
Tyler
Armstrong
Rush
To name a few, there are more.

Many, including Jerry Jones, were mad Dorance was receiving snaps ahead of Randy Gregory last year. In hindsight it was a great move.

wow, that's a tough call. There have been several, and I have expected several to produce, and they have.
The Oline in general has stepped up.
Tyler Smith, TP, and Hendershot have all risen to the task.

Williams at DE is still rough around the edges but this is a keeper and a Tank replacement, replacing an all-pro most likely. We won the lottery again just after winning the mega lottery with Micah

Cooper Rush. Without his steady play and solid leadership things would be much different.

I gotta give MM credit. Jason Garret struggled with backups…

Have to go with Bland. He’s as legit a third corner as there is and is still a rookie and a late round pick. I expected Sam Williams to be good and I expected Smith to be decent but at G not T. So he’s also been a surprise but still think Bland based on having zero expectations for him yet him coming in and shining. Have to also mention Dorrance Armstrong. Always thought he was a JAG but he’s played very well.
