Who is your favorite all-time assistant coach and why?

For me it's Norv Turner. I don't think he was a great head coach, but he really did a great job and you never hear him and Jimmy Johnson being friends, etc. I think the players just needed him and he knew how to put them in the best situation to win.

Dave Campo.

Not because of his coaching, but because of who he is as a person.

Campo was hugely underrated as a head coach

He had no Talent was neutered and still his players played hard every single down that deserves some credit
Great assistant though

Marinelli and it's not close for me. Sometimes I follow the D-lineman around in Oxnard just to watch/listen to Rod. He is an American treasure.

Dave Campo.

Not because of his coaching, but because of who he is as a person.

Campo was I think secondary coach in 92 93, and they were pretty good in secondary, he was also a good DC.

Norv Turner, and Dave wandstant sp? were both very good at OC and DC, They played a big part in the SB seasons, even Campo.

None of them were good at HC.

Avezzano was the best ST coach dallas ever had.

So all 4 of those guys were favs of mine.

I know Wade was a head coach, but I would have loved to have him as an assistant. Great guy, got to meet him and his dad in San Angelo at a football clinic. Also, had a couple of drinks with him at Blaines Pub. Mack Brown, Tommy Tuberville and Nick Saban were all there........that was a great afternoon.

I agree. Campo gets a lot of props from former players as an excellent DBs coach.

I'll submit Raymond Berry.

Yes, he was only with the Cowboys from 1968 until 1969. But, in his first camp as coach, when he was instructing the Cowboy receivers on running precise out routes, he stopped and noticed an issue. He had the trainers come out with measuring tape, because he believed that the field was mismeasured by two yards. Low and behold, he was right.

Talk about an attention to detail.

For a longer term assistant, I will take Jim Myers. He developed such linemen as Ralph Neely, John Niland, Dave Manders, Rayfield Wright, Blaine Nye, Pat Donovan, Herb Scott and John Fitzgerald into some outstanding offensive lines.
