Looking for some insight from you west coast Boys fans who may know SD well.
I've been checking out their fan boards (no smack talk, just silent recon  ) and I see the majority of them seem very concerned with their secondary and they all seem VERY concerned about the safeties.
If they do have secondary problems who will they call upon to cover Witten? That could be the best matchup for us in the passing game that day and I was wondering what will the chargers try to counter.

44 peeks and i'm the first to comment? i guess that means not a lot of people around here know much about the chargers, myself included. all i know is that it wil be a good test, and no matter how it goes we will win the following week against the Skins.

Don't know much about their safeties, but if it comes down to covering Witten, I don't think it matters who their safeties are. As long as noen of them are named "Ronnie Lott" I think we win that matchup.

The only think I'm concerned about his our Run D. The Texans pushed us around and have average RBs. What will LT2 do to us?

Speaking of LT... wasn't he suppose to go to a couple of Cowboys practices? I just hope the guy isn't passed out in some crack house somewhere.

I agree, the key to SD begins with LT we must contain him to give ourselves a chance at winning that game.

as fas as containing their offense, i looked at their depth chart and the starting wr are keenen mcardell - 14th year vet, and rechee caldwell ? seems like he was hurt a lot his first 2-3 years in the nfl, doesnt have a whole lot of cathces or td's. the guys vaking them up sem inexperienced.

Gates really was their best receiver and he's out, nice break for us. I dont see them doing much passing on us, question will be if we can stop the run, they have a good line and lorenzo neal as fb paving the way for LT.

I dont know much at all about their defense

True but I feel their passing game is predicated off the run, if LT is having success running the ball you will see a lot of play-action by SD. If we can keep them in 2nd and long 3rd and long I think we can handle their passing attack.

We all know the Chargers well:)

They run LT 2 downs and pass to gates on 3rd down, lol.

They run a 3-4 and are one year into the conversion relying on a lot of young guys like us. Young draftee Cbs and scrambling at safety. Marty likes to play defense and run the ball like Big Bill. They really are similar to us except a weaker secondary, stronger Lb grouping and a Qb coming off of a Pro Bowl tho it was his first even decent year. Losing Gates to me shifts the advantage to Dallas. BUT The Boys have sucked in season openers under BP and even tho he says he has adjusted things to start a little quicker I'll figure SD by 3 til I see us play.

Im picking the Boys to win this one. I think are guys are more than ready as far as mental mind set and football shape. I'll say that this may be a game decided by penalties, the more disciplined team will win in a slug fest, grind it out type of game.

I have a Charger fan friend, he says the best board for Charger info and fans is the forum @ SignonSanDiego.com

I don't follow them much but I have been watching their preseason games because we play them week one. This is what I have noticed;

Offense
1) Rely heavily on LT and TE was not impressed with their WR's. Our run stop has looked good so far with 2 significant starters not on the field. With the secondary we have this year I think we will be able to shut down their passing game. Brees can get rattled and I am hoping we get into his head early with a drastically improved pass rush.

Defense
1) They have not been able to stop the run. They have no pass rush that is why they drafted Merriman. Our success against their defense will depend upon our OL. If Bledsoe has time and we give lanes for JuJo I think this defense will have their tongues out by the second half.
