I made a post that pertained to this in another thread but the post got me to thinking about this and I thought it is an idea that is worth discussing on its own merits.

Dak seems to be a coach killer. Who lasts longer as a Cowboy—Shotty or Dak? And why?

Five years both...

Its a coin flip, but Schottenheimer will be here longer than Dak IMO. Jerry isnt quick to let a coach go these days, and I would think there is a fairly good chance the Cowboys use the out on Daks contract after 2027. Possibly sooner if they believe Milton can play, but that is very much TBD.

That's a good question. Dak has been here a while and has almost worn out his welcome. On the other hand, I get the feeling BS is on a short leash with the Jones. He may only get this one season to turn things around. With Dak being on the first year of his expensive guaranteed extension, he will probably survive another year no matter what. BS, however, is a plug-in and play guy meaning he can be easily replaced. I guess my answer is Dak will last longer.

I think the Shotty hire showed that Jerry isn't making another uncomfortable hire again. So Shotty stays unless the team completely craters. I honestly Dak is an injury away from being done.

Both gone at the same time.

And Dak didn't kill Garrett. Perhaps other way around Garrett ruined Romo and Dak

Schotty lasts longer

Dak is gone in 2 years, maybe after this year if they just bite the bullet and drop him and go with a young guy and eat the cap hit

No one else wants to hire JG or Mike which tells me not only did Dak not kill their career but they shouldn’t have been hired to begin with.

Dak, because he’s on the first year of a mega deal and has a lot of guaranteed money. It’s easier to replace an HC than a QB. It doesn’t take a draft pick or more to replace an HC and most can be successful if they have a good team and QB.

Dak seems to be a coach killer.
That’s a ridiculous comment. If that was true he would have been gone a long time ago. No team re-signs a coach killer to the biggest contract in NFL history. Some of you continue to put the entire blame on him.

The league wants to hire young up and coming assistants. Mike is/was a very good overall head coach (he might get another opportunity eventually). Jason is a guy that has inside connections with this squad, but no real stand out coaching talents.
