at the start of the season many of these would have been looked at as very good match ups

Bingo. Injuries and teams underperforming this season makes it look worse than it is. At the start of the season most of those games had something going for them.

SNF seems to get the better match ups on most weeks. The Colts-Saints would have been a better match up than the Ravens-Jags if Peyton was playing

I disagree. I think most of them look like bad games even before injuries or teams started under performing. There were few that really looked like good match ups. The injuries and such just made an already bad list much worse.

Florida got a lot of love!!! Dolphins play twice. Jaguars play twice and bucs once

I thought schedules used to be done by hand but the NFL stopped using the people who had made it forever!

I see lots of division games along with what was considered as up and coming teams (like the Rams).

On paper doesn't look that bad when ignoring the present.

In the offseason, week 12 was probably thought to be a possible game between 2 teams battling for the NFC West lead.

That's the one that jumped out to me, the NFL might want to think about bringing that flex game concept to MNF

That's by design. SNF is the marquee game of the week, and they give it the best matchups they can (hence the flexible scheduling later in the season). MNF, since it moved to ESPN, has always gotten a fairly mediocre slate.

Yep. Sunday Night is the new Monday Night.

Still though, that is a really bad slate of games.

I agree with you. These are the only games that looked remotely interesting going into the season, rating wise, and I'm being generous. The ones in green still have/had interest. The ones in red are duds now:

Washington Commanders at Dallas Cowboys
Indianapolis Colts at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
San Diego Chargers at Kansas City Chiefs
Chicago Bears at Philadelphia Eagles
Minnesota Vikings at Green Bay Packers
Kansas City Chiefs at New England Patriots
New York Giants at New Orleans Saints
Pittsburgh Steelers at San Francisco 49ers
Atlanta Falcons at New Orleans Saints

I disagree about the Vikings/ Packers game. Game 1 was a very entertaining game. I think you can rest assured that game 2 will be a hard fought and entertaining game even though the Vikes are basically out of it. You won't see a Colts/Saints like game.

Sounds like ESPN got screwed this year by NBC. SNF schedule is worlds better.

Most of the matchups are pretty good, or looked to be good before the season started. They're not the quality of Sunday Night games, but they're not supposed to be. The loss of Peyton and idiocy of cutting Garrard have made some of the matchups a lot worse (but I doubt we'll see anymore 62 - 7) like we saw on Sunday.

Why would the Chiefs/Chargers be a dud now? It's for first place in the division. And should the Chiefs win (they almost won in SD) they have 2 easy games afterwards which would put them at 6-3 going into the the NE game, which I would think would make it not so much of a dud. And Minnesota had a shot against GB in a rookie QB's first start.

I see this as a good thing. I have absolutely no reason to turn on ESPN until next year when we have a Monday night game. :)

when they made the schedule, garrard was still the jags starting qb......

i have no idea how the dolphins got two games, much less one.....

i remember when MNF was a showcase of the playoff teams from the previous season, with the two SB teams getting to play about 3-4 times. i liked that format. it rewards the top teams by giving them primetime slots. it makes the bottom feeders want to improve, as to get national exposure.

of course if you want ratings, you cannot go wrong with Dallas or Pittsburgh. They are the two most popular franchises across the globe.
