I believe it started free agency. Start of the salary cap. So many games ,so many seasons. What is your one biggest memory about the NFL. Or the Dallas Cowboys.
A buddy of mine from HS started at QB for the Cardinals as a scrub and beat Joe Montana and SF. He's been a scout for the Cowboys about 20 years after starring in the CFL.

he quit coaching after 1979 iirc, in 1980 it was still Pat Summerall and Tom Brookshier (the pair I listened to all the time when I first started watching in 1977 as an 11 year old), then in 1981 Madden moved up with Pat Summerall.
I love John Madden’s induction speech. I cannot wait for the lights to go out and talk to all the ghosts.

I remember 2, which one are you interested in

my biggest memory is the damn Commanders won the SB both times and in my opinion had unfair advantages due to each strike

82 was a lockout not a strike I believe.
I don’t recall myself right now. But if I was to look it up you’re probably right, good memory. I’m 67. I train with a two times Super Bowl winning running back. We live in Rhode Island. So many memories my cowboy brother

How do you not love old school football. These new fans I feel bad for them lol it’s a different game I’m enjoying it . All the basics still apply. Camaraderie. Yep number one for me. And then the scheme having the right place to fit it. We finally have that I think

I forgot who is the second guy in the booth
Summerall Madden started together in 1981 season. There was a short time when Madden worked with Vin Scully and a couple others before that. But one of the first Madden/Summerall games was the Cowboys/49ers game that regular season I believe. We got demolished that game

I just looked it up. We only played nine games that season. I don’t know who won the championship
Deadskins won both strike and lockout year. They played the Dolphins that year in a game that was closer than the final score indicated but was known for the long run by Riggins.

John Riggins, Earl Campbell. I would love to see these young kids try to stop them today. New house. Rocky Bleier I’m not given Franco any love lol

I thought this was a thread to laugh at the fact that 2/3rds of the WFT SB wins came with an asterick and was tarnished by strick seasons that either cut the season short or used replacement players.

There was one strike game I watched last year when editing things for my youtube the QB for the San Diego Chargers was one Rick Neuhiesel. One year later he would be the QB coach for UCLA coaching some guy named Troy Aikman.

Full game is up on youtube now.

If it was a strike season, the Commanders did. They only way they have. 2 for 2 in strike seasons. 1 for every other season without a strike.
