Forgive the pun...

I was interested to see where Seattle got all of its interceptions last season that has instilled a fear of their secondary. Worth noting how many of those QB's are not starters or unemployed in 2012.

Vince Young - 4
Caleb Hanie - 3
Eli Manning - 3
Rex Grossman -2
Kevin Kolb -2
Andy Dalton - 2
Sam Bradford (2 games) - 2
John Skelton - 1
Colt McCoy -1
Joe Flacco -1

Ruthlessraper - 0
Matt Ryan - 0
Alex Smith (2 games) - 0
Tony Romo - 0

This kind of reminds me of Tampa Bay a few years ago that everyone was shaking in their boots over because their secondary was an interception factory. I went back and watched every single one of their interceptions and only one or two of them were what a football fan would call good secondary play. Most of them were incredibly bad throws that resulted in tipped balls.

Heck, one of them went off of the back of the intended receiver, another hit the receiver in the face mask, and both dropped into the arms of the waiting secondary or linebackers. Then we opened the season against them and tore them apart.

I'm not saying that's the case with Seattle, but you need to look at the fact that 12 of their interceptions came against QB's who are not starting in 2012.

The only decent QB on a decent team they faced last season that they really worked over was Eli. Goose eggs against Dallas, Pittsburgh, San Fran x2, and Atlanta.

Take it as you will, but Seattle's secondary still has a LOT to prove to me.

I watched the game and there secondary is very good Fitz was well covered most of the game and that is saying something as he was the main target for most of the passes. Maybe they did get some easy picks last year, this last game they were playing tight, when Kolb came in for the injured Skelton he did light up some fireworks with quick slants and timing plays, whereas Skelton was inclined to force it to Fitz every time. They have the Safeties we hoped would fall to us in the draft several years ago.

Hey bro, i thought you quit.....

You said this Team is Trash in the game thread.
In that thread, Emperor's knee jerking whining in first quarter was comical and childish for sure.

I re-watched last years game.

We dominated everything but the scoreboard. Drove the length of the field on the first three possessions. kicked a field goal after facing first and goal inside the 5 the first two times. the third one, Dez fumbled fighting to get in the end zone. I think we only punted twice the entire game...not real sure on that though.

I don't think we will have any problem scoring sunday, and our defense should be able to handle a rookie qb.

eliminate turnovers and critical penalties, and it should be one of the easier wins of the season.

Good data!

I think most of the excitement around Seattle's secondary comes from the shockingly young age. Consider Dallas's long term search for a sfaety, and then consider that Seattle was able to establish a top starting pair from the 2010 draft alone. And one of those picks (Chancellor) was a 5th rounder. To follow that up with a year where they managed to find a giant corner (bigger than our receivers) in the CFL and another 5th round guy, both of whom ended up starting and both of whom played really really well, is pretty impressive.

The excitement comes from, I think, a good performance from a completely 1st and 2nd year crew of guys that overachieved last year. They're expecting big things.

That said, it's tough for me to get too concerned on our offensive side. I don't think there's a defense in the NFL that keeps our guys from putting up at least 21 if they're not giving the game away with drive-killing penalties.

The 0 qbs had the following in common
1. played early in season
2.qb didn't throw that many picks the whole year
3. More running than passing

San Fran - 1,2, and 3
Pitts- 1 (when Seattle defense didn't show up.)
Atlanta - 1,2, and 3 (The game where I think Seattle changed their defensive scheme from passive to aggressive. First half, Turner ran all over them but in 2nd half they blitzed like crazy and the secondary manned up)
Cowboys - 2

Couldn't be right. Eli-te quarterbacks don't throw 3 picks costing their team the game in the final minutes.

They do have talented DBs. With their size at CB, they're able to play a lot of press man coverage. The OL just needs to give Romo time to allow the pass routes to develop.
