Who Should We Replace Parcells With

Some of you want Parcells fired this year or at least not extended beyond next year. Some have suggested Mike Holmgren and Jimmy Johnson.

For the record, Holmgren took over as GM/HC of Seattle in January 99 & at end of that season, they posted first ever playoff appearance. Regressed for next few years until 2003 was they won double digit victories for first time (since 1986). In 2004 won NFC West for first time. This year they've won NFC West again and looks to be 1st seed & maybe NFC SB appearance given play of NFC teams this year. So it took Holmgren in his 7th season to make this team a legit SB contender and Holmgren took GB QB Hasselbeck with him. And most of us believed we should have beaten them since we were leading with only minutes to go by a TD. If some of you still want Holmgren and prepared to wait 7 years to become legit SB (where they will lose to Colts), then common sense says to give Parcells at least thru end of his contract.

What's with this guy talkin "common sense"? As of last Sunday it's been virtually removed form this board aside from a few. Give him 5 years to turn around a cess pile?

In the NFL name me a former Head Coach that has won SB rings with 2 differnt teams

For some reason it does not seem to work out. I know of two guys that have made it to the SB as HC with 2 differnt teams and only won with one Parcells and Vermiel

I would be looking for a young cordinator like ATL did with Mora

I think it's time for a stronger prescription.

I know of a legendary coach/NASCAR driver that has dominated NCAA Football, the NFL, and NASCAR along with some stints in pro wrestling, Major League Baseball, and Grand Theft Auto- his name? A. Butte, (the A stands for a banned word on this site that I would get in trouble for saying). I think he would be just the man to take us to the promised land. Now, if I could just figure out how to get him out of my Playstation 2...

No body. We should let him coach till he decides to quit, then not replace him at all. We should then draw the play up in the dirt in the huddle, like we did as kids. It worked then, it willwork now. Imagine the other teams DC tryin to game plan for us when we dont have any kind of game plan. Can it be any worse then the predictable schemes we run now.

Actually a good post. Though I am not sure why the whole thing is bolded. But its true. You have 2 main schools of thought I suppose. the old school and New school. Rebuild over 2-4 years through draft. Rebuild this year and go for broke. The Baltimores and Tampa Bays. Here today, gone tomorrow.

I hope Bill has a long term plan, it sems like he does. He, like Holmgren is building something designed to last more then 1-2 years.

Anyway, even the best plan can be foiled with bad personnel decisions. thats what happened to us the first year of Parcells tenure. I think Quincy getting cut washuge, the D was smoke and mirrors and well we had Vinny, you know all about that. But I think we are on the right track this year. Jones is ready to pay for a championship. Parcells is ready to pickthe players. its gunna happen, and over a period of time. The D looks solid and steady and with saftey help will be so for years to come. When the oline gets that way, the D will be peaking and ready to run to the superbowl. For years to come.

I like the old school approach. Not the one year wonder approach. Good job Bill and Jerry. Make it so #1. Get ready for several more trophies in the years to come.

You think Henson will ever get a chance under BP win now attitude?

Absolutely.

Parcells said a couple of weeks ago that this has been his hardest rebuilding job because in his last stints he "had his QB in place by now."

This clearly implies that despite the common 'wisdom' around here, Bill does not see a long term future for Bledsoe here.

And if Bill had such a terrible "win now" attitude, why are so many rookies starting this year? Why are we still comfortably under the salary cap when he could have gone nuts in FA and brought in even more expensive veterans? Why was Peerless Price simply let go because Bill didn't want to interfere with the development of Crayton?

Henson - and Romo - will get their shots to beat out Bledsoe. And if they don't we will make another move for a QB. Because Bill clearly is not satisfied with the status quo either.

C'mon man.

What kind of a shot will it be? Drew Bledsoe is a polished Veteran with tons of experience. No way Henson or Romo could be him out next year.

For Big Bill to play those kids, he would have to do so knowing that Bledsoe is the best option of all 3 in 2006, but maybe the 2 kids have potential and have not seen their best days.

If Romo/Henson go head to head with Drew Bledsoe in TC next year when they have not even had any work, we all know who is going to win if your going on "best chance to win"

Sadly, you are correct.

As long as Bledsoe is on the roster, there will not be any sort of "open competition".

And Bledsoe could beat Henson in "open competition" rather easily.

He would beat both Henson and Romo with ease. It is too bad both are so marginal.

But the open competition applies to anyone. Bledsoe has the job as long as he wants it.

All I can say is Bill is watching the same games we are. He knows more than anyone that Bledsoe has problems with pressure.

I will tell you that if we draft a couple of O-lineman and go with some youngsters on the line like we did on defense this year, no way is he going to want a QB like Bledsoe back there behind them. Romo and Henson are both more mobile and have better pocket presence.

I won't be shocked either way.
