and why would he be getting tired of being compared to Wes Welker?

I saw the following quote from him on nfl.com.

"I get tired of it a little bit because I feel like I have a little bit more speed than Wes Welker does. He's got a little bigger frame than me but I feel like I've got a little more versatility to my game than he does."
- Cowboys rookie WR Cole Beasley, on comparisons to Patriots star Wes Welker.

You would think that it's a great compliment for a rookie to mentioned in the same breath as Welker. Having a little more speed is one thing, but can he run good routes, get open and catch the ball consistently. He should be embracing the comparisons even though I'm ok with his edge.

Beasly should leave well enough alone. He is in for a rude awakening once training camp starts and he's going up against guys like Carr. He'll change his tune then and realize how stupid he sounded when making the Welker comparisons.

I'm on record saying he will outperform Coale.

How's he the one "sounding stupid" when it's not HIM making the Welker comparisons?

He's got more "versatility" to his game then Welker. C'mon that sounds stupid.

Well, he's definitely not short on confidence. :laugh2:

Because he said he's faster. I think people believe he should just be humble that he's even being compared. JMO

He's just short. :laugh2:

Anyway, wish him the best of luck.

I get he's sick of the tired "compare white receivers to white receivers" BS but I hope his confidence translates to the field.

I have no problem with Beasley's comments.

Love his confidence. None of it hit me as outlandish. He wasn't disrespectful to anyone, IMO, and I imagine he's heard WW comparisons throughout his college football career. I can see how that could get old. He gave an honest answer, or so it came across to me.

He plays for the Dallas Cowboys for now. I wish him all the best.

Prediction: If Dallas cuts Beasley New England Will Pick him up fast.. Welker Isn't worth the money he's asking for right now.. And We will Rue..

That is just stupid.

Is it just me, or is the stuff people get upset about getting weirder?

One of the very first posts.

Who cares if he said he's faster? He didn't say "I'm better." Maybe I'm weird, but I don't see that as something to think of as "stupid" to say.

Rumblings around Valley Ranch shake down Beasley as being a player early on, making plays everyday in practice and a likely 53 candidate.

Sounds good to me. We definitely need the depth at WR.
