With most of college football’s big game scheduled for the next two weeks, there really isn’t a must-see game this weekend. As such, we’ll be focusing in on a couple of games which feature pretty good head-to-head match-ups of great interest or the 2008 draft.

Virginia at Miami; Saturday, 7:15 PM ET; ESPN2… The big story in this game of course is the fact that Miami will be playing its final game in the Orange Bowl. The sub-plot for draft watchers with 8-2 Virginia in town will a potential pass rushing dual between DEs Chris Long (#91, 6-4, 280) of the Cavaliers and Miami junior Calais Campbell (#81, 6-7, 282), both of whom are considered first-round prospects for the 2008 draft. Long, the son of former Raiders’ star DE Howie Long, is a strong athletic two-way DE who has really emerged as a pass rush threat with the potential to go in the top 10 picks this coming April as he has posted 12 sacks to date. Meanwhile, it has been a tough year for the rangy Campbell, who entered the season rated as the top DE in college football, but has struggled at times posting just 5 sacks this all after netting ten in 2006. Campbell, a very athletic former HS basketball star and converted TE, though, will still get plenty of attention from pro teams if opts to enter the upcoming draft. Campbell could be joined in next April’s draft by fellow junior Kenny Phillips (#1, 6-1, 210) who should be the top-rated safety at this year’s draft if he leaves school early, although like Campbell he hasn’t necessarily had a great season this all. Also keep an eye on MLB Tavares Gooden (#52, 6-0, 240), an aggressive LB with decent size and athleticism, while CB Glenn Sharpe (#4, 5-11, 190), OGs Andrew Bain (#72, 6-3, 330) and Derrick Morse (#71, 6-3, 325) and WRs Lance Leggett (#9, 6-2,190) and Darnell Jenkins (#8, 5-9, 190) are solid second-tier type prospects.

Kansas at Oklahoma State; Saturday, 8 PM ET; ABC regional… Find out what the fuss is all about as unbeaten Kansas, arguably the most-surprising program in the country this all, tries to keep it going against the Cowboys. This game also features potentially the best individual head-to-head match-ups this week when Jayhawks’ junior CB Aqib Talib (#3, 6-1, 180) goes against Oklahoma State WR Adarius Bowman (#12, 6-3, 220). Both are potential late-first-round prospects for the upcoming draft. And if one wonders who that #3 on the Kansas offense is, well it’s the versatile Talib who also plays some WR himself. Kansas also has one of college football’s most underrated backs in RB Brandon McAnderson (#35, 5-11, 235), a RB-FB hybrid who isn’t all that fast, but is tough to bring down, while TE Derek Fine (#85, 6-3, 245), OT Cesar Rodriquez (#65, 6-6, 296) and DT James McClinton (#93, 6-1, 285) should at least get some free agent interest this spring.

For the record, Oklahoma State’s Bowman, who once played basketball at North Carolina, is a big-play threat who has 57 receptions for over 900 yards and 7 TDs this fall and could ultimately be the first WR off the board this coming April. The Cowboys also have a weapon in RB Dantrell Savage (#22, 5-9, 195) who isn’t all that big but is as fast and agile as they come. In fact, the Cowboys can put points on the board, but also will allow a bunch although they do have some veteran depth on defense including tweener DEs Marque Fountain (#97, 6-2, 260) and Nathan Peterson (#13, 6-2,240), MLB/DE Rodrick Johnson (#2, 6-2,260) and DBs Martel Van Zant (#7, 7-0,210) and Donovan Woods (#8, 6-2,225), the team’s former starting QB who could end up at LB at the next level.
