Asking this question because Horn has been attached to us a few times, and there are some analysts that believe he is better than Surtain. Similarly last year Henderson was attached to us often, and some analysts felt he was a better than Okudah.

CJ Henderson was the more experience/healthier Farley. Superior athlete, with #1 CB traits that needs a little development. Horn isn't the same type of athlete nor possesses the natural ball skills.

I prefer Horn. Henderson has elite cover skills but didn’t like to tackle. I don’t see that from Horn.

Henderson is a superior athlete. But Horn fits our scheme better

Take horn and trade Gallup. Then let Sherman groom him. He’ll learn to hold without getting g caught.

Henderson played his final season with a bum shoulder. I think that was what led to his not being as willing a tackler that year.. That and he didn't want to be risking his money!!! His first two years at Florida he was an all over the field tackler.. but once he hurt his shoulder he softened up quite a bit.

Henderson without question.

+ athlete with + coverage tape. I think top 10 was legit but saw him as a legit top 15ish talent.

I don't think Henderson was very good last year

I know this has nothing to do w the thread. I'm just bringing it up

Hendo was a smoother athlete and more natural in coverage. Horn is stiffer and plays a step slower, Pro Day times be dammed. He's also more reactive, whereas Henderson would run the route for his man.

Where they are polar opposites is in physicality. Hendo had a horrific missed tackle rate and wanted nothing to do with contact, whereas to borrow from PFF, "Horn plays every snap like the receiver just personally insulted his family." If Henderson is Deion, Horn is Lester Hayes.

I had zero doubts about Henderson's coverage skill translating to the pros, but his total aversion to hitting made me wonder about his mentality. Is he soft, is he a Deion-style prima donna, does he even like the sport of football or is he a track guy just playing CB for the money. We've seen how many talented guys bust because their head wasn't in the game, and after watching Hendo ole like 5 runs every game, I thought it was fair to question if his was.

No question that Horn loves football and is out there to straight-up ball, but his overaggression scares me. Looking at recent top CBs, Henderson played very under control in coverage. Surtain plays extremely under control. Okudah played extremely under control. Horn OTOH is biting on everything to try and make a play. If you are projecting Horn to play CB1 and line up against the top 20 WRs in the league, all of those guys run routes well enough to bait him time and again. He'd get destroyed right now by Amari Cooper.

Just on tape, I'd say Henderson was clearly better, and my only questions with him were off-the-field motivation stuff that we fans know nothing about.

Henderson and Okudahs NFL performance last year reminded me why I dont like taking corners that high.

The first thing the league does to them is tie a hand behind their back.

Kinda predictable. More of a traits based pick at 9. But his traits dont grow on trees. Okudah really struggled the first half of the season too.

Being such a nuanced position, people have to expect that our best 2021 CB is probably going to be Trevon Diggs. Rookie years like Marcus Peters are rare. If you get an adequate rookie starter at CB, you did well

Absolutely true. W that said, I don't expect Surtain to have those kind of struggles next year. He won't be perfect, he will have his rookie moments, but he will be good.

Your concern is valid but the position is so important that if the traits are there you gotta take a shot even knowing that it may take them some time to adjust to the pro game.

Okudah was way over rated. Not saying he can't rise to the challenge but he never should have been considered a top 5 player.

I also don't know if it's fair to judge either player given the crappy situations they were drafted into. They both went to bottom feeder programs which frankly seemed to be trying to get worse as the season wore on to improve draft position. I think both Henderson and Okudah will be fine once their teams starting trying to win again. It's gotta be difficult to go from programs like Florida and Ohio State into hot garbage situations like Detroit and JAX. I think the losing takes a mental toll on some guys.. We forget sometimes that these guys are 21 and 22 year old kids.

Rookie CBs usually suck.

Okudah had the standard bumps and bruises but he's going to be a stud.

I'm always interested in guys like Horn - he's got the attitude. He thinks he's the best defender in the draft. You have to be confident to succeed at CB because you will get burned. The other thing going for him is family ties to the NFL. Those guys are usually very good players. Having a brother or father who played in the league puts you at a real advantage. He's not going to have to learn how to prepare himself or underestimate the work he needs to do in studying the playbook. Huge advantage for a guy to have a family member to discuss stuff with (much like Tavon has Stephon Diggs).

Please. No one mention Bobbie Carpenter.
