Who was better, Irvin or T.O.? - 6/3/08

I think Irvin had better hands and was the leader of those great teams plus he has 3 rings. TO in the end will have better all around stats, but Irvin was the better WR

And who could forget his storied TD catch in the Superbowl which he made at about the 8 yard line before stretching across? I doubt TO makes that catch.

Man... got the vid on that?

would love to see it?

Speed -- Owens

Run After the Catch -- Owens

Deep threat -- Owens

Hands -- Irvin

Consistency -- Irvin

Leadership -- Irvin

It's pretty close, but I would take Irvin based on his huge edge over Owens as a heart-and-soul leader who can set the tone for an entire team.

I don't. Couldn't even find a picture but NFL films runs it every time they mention Irvin's name!

Irvin imho is the greatest WR to play the game not named Jerry Rice. And honestly, take away some massive knee injuries and put him in a west coast offense, I don't know that he wouldn't be on the same level.

People really underestimate just how good he was.

Owens is a GREAT WR, no doubt, but he isn't better than the Playmaker, no matter what the numbers may lead you to believe. C'mon guys, think back to how many BIG plays Mike used to make for us over the years...he wasn't a "possession" receiver by any means! Then compare Owens' average hands to the vacuums than Irvin possessed...not even close! I'm loving T.O. right now for us but 88 was on another level! Not to mention the leadership, fire and swagger he brought to the team! How many times have you heard Emmitt & Troy say that they wouldn't have been the same team or as successful as they were personally w/out Mike's leadership and talent?!
88 > 81 everyday of the week and twice on Sundays!!!
