ferguson.
he's been a better pro thus far.
schoonmaker was much better this year as a pro.
but ferguson is still farther along.
barring injury...i'll go with big jake.

It all depends on usage. Everybody stinks when they're on the sidelines the whole game. I actually think Schoonmaker has a higher ceiling than Fergy. More physical guy. I think with 17 games of starter reps, Schoonmaker will shock people around here.

Ferg. Rough year, but Id caution anyone on souring on a player after down season, especially this one. I think he would be a huge beneficiary of Dallas going after an upgrade on WR that can line up outside the numbers. There was a lot of attention given to those inside routes this year as they didnt have a great outside threat other than Lamb, and a QB that doesnt have a great deep ball half the year. Fergs biggest struggle (other than injury) seems to be his limitations going vertical. He is a really strong receiver on those underneath routes, but seems pretty limited to those, and needs some help clearing out the middle of the field.

Schoon simply does not impress. He was supposed to be a real good blocker and its been spotty.
and he will never be a real threat in the passing game

THAT SAID
Ferguson took a step back this year; had problems holding onto the ball; and that concussion lasted a LONG TIME

I was pretty confident in the TE position coming into this year; not anymore

I expect Ferg's concussion to be fully healed by next season. I wonder if he returned too soon this year.

I like Ferg but Schoonmaker has a much higher ceiling IMO. But so much of a TE's stats and impact are decided by scheme, play-caller, QB and coaches.

We don't have the luxury of upgrading the TE position. There are already too many other positions that aren't solidified.

The triple headed monster of mediocrity can be held together by Spewmaker, Fergie, and Spanner-wrench-Ford for next season

In my opinion Fergie had a bad season, why I don't know. do top notch players have a bad season or are they just not top notch?

Haven't seen Schoon much to make a call.

How about that monster Spann-Ford, definitely got the size like an Escobar or are our TE's just there for decoration.

A couple of years ago this position was thought of being loaded with talent.

But, can't be wasting draft picks with TE's year in year out. Scouts need to do their homework better...for all positions for that matter.

I'll stick with Fergie.

Ferg.

Thought Schoon would be more consistent blocking based on what he did in college. Not sure what happened there, but on the plus side there is still time to adjust to the pro game. I don't like Schoon's hands though. Saw a too many catches by him that weren't clean that could prove problematic in traffic. Also, I don't question his straight line speed but he looks limited by his hips. Just ugly to watch the guy move.

With the exception of Overshown, Schoon was part of the "one round too soon" draft class from 2023. On second thought, given DO's long-term health concerns, maybe he was too soon as well.

Schoon...he will never be a real threat in the passing game
We knew when he was draft it would take some time to develop that part of his game. He is better. He will continue to get better. We all saw what he did when he got targets. He is a big man and while never be deep threat or speed guy he can get open and make plays.

I voted Ferguson because he did look like a poor man's Kittle at times last year, but I do want to see Schoon get more chances, especially as weak as our WRs behind CeeDee are. He is very straight-linish, but he does have some speed that I think could make some plays.
