Who will be remembered more fondly... Peyton or Eli?

It sickens me to even come to the conclusion that this will be a question, but it will. Eli has two superbowls, Peyton has one.. They are both Hall of Famers. Yeah that's right folks, Eli Manning will be a Hall of Famer. Ridiculous.

A few weeks ago people were questioning everything about this team, it was all but certain that it was Tom Coughlins last season as a coach - but then the perfect storm begins.

Mr.Garretts' genius idea to ice Dan Bailey not only gave these rejects a chance in the playoffs but it led directly to them holding a Lombardi.

Garrett called a timeout b/c the st's coach was freaking out about the play clock running down & players not getting set, while Harbaugh got criticized for doing the exact opposite and not calling a timeout

Not sure why we can't give credit where it's due. Eli is one of the greatest QBs ever. His talent and poise are remarkable.

He's not a prima donna like male model Brady and he plays the game the way it's supposed to be played.

The defense wasn't the problem in Arizona. The offense only scored 13 points.

It's kind of funny how time changes minds. I remember when the 2004 Draft was on the horizon and I was one of very few people on this forum's previous home who was high on Eli.

I still like Eli, but his being talked about in the same sentences as his brother and Tom Brady is really just nuts. There is no team in the History of the NFL that would take him over his brother if they were on the same team. There is not team in the History of the NFL who would take him over Tom Brady if they were on the same team.

Yes, he has 2 rings, and he earned them. 2 rings doesn't vault him into some stratosphere reserved for those who are truly great.

He's a good QB who had a great year. He is not however in the same league as those guys.

Its a good question and to be honest...I never in million years would have thought that Eli would threaten Peyton as being the more elite QB. At this stage Peyton has a slight edge but I think Eli could possibly win one more and that does make me slightly nauseous because it would mean he would be considered on same level as Aikman.

This is a ridiculous thread. Peyton is easily a top 5 arguably top 3 quarterback of all time. Eli is nowhere that level.

I agree with that. He is the most unassuming two time NFL champ that I have ever watched. He impresses me more than his brother because he doesn't project that he is above it all. His brother audibles at the line like he cracking the genome code.

Peyton is by far the better QB. Eli has played on better teams with better defenses. Eli is a good QB but he will never be as good as his brother. SB wins are big however the TEAM wins a SB not a QB by himself. Ironically, if hadn't been for Brady and the Pats, Peyton would probably have two or three wins by now.

Come on Hos Eli is not only better than his big brother but better than Steve Young, Brett Favre, Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees and Dan Marino. I know this because I read it on here. He has more Super Bowls than all those guys.

Or blame the offense for wasting opportunity after opportunity early in games when our defense is clicking. I worry more about adjustments after the half. There are many areas we can improve.

Congrats to Eli, but he is no where near his brother. In my years of watching football, Peyton is the best that ever played the game. Montana, Brady, Stabauch, Aikman, Marino, Unitas, and all the rest of the bunch, Peyton, to me is the best ever. It doesn't matter to me that Eli has more rings. Heck Brad Johnson and Mark Rypien have more rings than Marino, but that doesn't make them better. I assume most of those on here who want to crown Eli as the greatest haven't seen the best. I will say that of the super bowl winning QBs, Eli is not even top 10.

Though I don't claim to know the exact point the OP was making, I think he's saying that it's crazy that one little moment like that changed everything. One moment they aren't in the playoffs, the next they're winning the Super Bowl.

We could talk about the Miles Austin missed catch as well. There were so many little things (like you mentioned above) that could have happened to prevent us from watching the Giants even have a chance to compete for a Super Bowl. But, those things didn't happen. And we had to watch them win one more.

We all know Eli ain't that good, but you just can't take away that he has won. Wilt was better than Russell, but rings do count for something.

What Eli does well is not make the big mistake in a critical situation, no matter how dumb of a look he has on his face. He has earned his props, hopefully our team can eventually earn theirs.
