Every year Parcells has cut at least 1 veteran player to make room for a young guy who showing good potential. Could it be a starter whose beat out by a backup or a young player/FA new to the team who beats out either a backup or even the starter? Frankly, I doubt any starter we have (except Davis, Pettiti & maybe Singleton) can be beaten out by any backup, FA or draft pick we added to the team so it's probably some backups who could feel the heat.
1. Peterman has to show he is now legit backup OG at both G positions or he's gone IF someone (Cory Proctor) shows he's better,
2. Ellis could be in trouble (no matter his 8 sacks last year) if he's not working his butt off and IF Hatcher and/or Jamison (kid we picked up last year off Atlanta PS (?) looks really, really good. I doubt this will happen but just throwing it in.
3. Keith Davis in trouble if negative info surfaces about accident and if either Pat Watkins or Coleman play FS better then Davis & if Beriault really looks good at SS and IF we've added enough quality STs players to make up for his loss. Again, doubt this will happen given the money we gave him in the spring to keep him.
4. CB/FS Coleman could be in trouble if he not playing too well & Davis & Watkins look really good at FS & Reeves/N.Jones really step it up at CB & Reeves also at FS.
5. Fabini could be in trouble if he doesn't play better then in June minicamp and if Pettiti & Colombo both look real good--combined with surprising good play by 7th rounder OT McQuistan.
6. Don't expect DE Coleman to make this team so his being cut won't be a surprise.
7. RB Tyler Thompson could be in trouble if he doesn't show anything more then last season. He's got to have developed some running moves other then straight ahead and also do better as a blocker in the backfield if he wants to stay.
8. Also think FB Polite in trouble and won't make this team.
9. I think Patrick Crayton is okay so long as he plays like he did earlier in 05 season before his injury; if he continues to play like he did after the injury (maybe injury still affecting him) he's in trouble. But I really think he will be okay and just returned too soon under pressure from Parcells.
