It all depends on how hot in the kitchen it gets . A 1-7 type start could definitely bring about change much like a losing season 4-13. Possibly even a non playoff season if there weren’t some major scapegoating like major injuries in 2020.
Can’t be known would be my vote
If the team improves over last year it will likely be MM
If they don’t it will likely be Quinn

"Groomed" denotes a certain level of competence that I do not believe is there.

I do not think Booger really grasps the role of the HC in establishing accountability, responsibility and culture within the locker room and team. His ego forces him to let everyone know who is in charge. Ego gratification is the driving force in his life. Everything feeds that need, even all the nepotism within the organization. That is not about family, it is all about him.

How can an owner groom a HC when he couldn't even learn to be the GM?
I think Jerry sees Moore much like many teams do
A young guy with great potential
But Moore has less experience than any coach I can think of ever had to be a HC
And while I think he will get a HC shot one day I don’t think any team or Jerry thinks he’s ready
Even young HC who’ve had success have had much more experience than Moore has at this point
Even McVay who was really young when he got his shot had 9-10 years experience as a coach in different aspects

I agree on the facts but what does Booger have to lose by taking a chance on Moore? Ratings? Revenue? He loses nothing and can do whatever he wants because he does not sweat the consequences.

You know those 10 years of Garrett? Every year the team just made more money while really accomplishing very little. He doesn't even worry about the fans, they're not going anywhere.

Unfortunately, I believe it will be Kellen Moore. Much like JG, KM is being groomedby JJ to be HC
I seriously NEED you to be wrong on that.

Aikman once said he doesn't think Jerry thinks as much of Moore as he did Garrett, so that gives me hope.

I get, and agree, that Jerry won't do the same thing with McCarthy he did with Garrett, but you're comment seemed to suggest that if Jerry were willing to keep McCarty through his first contract he would have been willing to give Garrett a 3rd contract.

No, decipher that suggestion that there is a thinner line of patience and tolerance now with McCarthy, than what they allowed for Garrett.
That's both the expectation bar set for McCarthy, as well as the lengthy frustration that is leading to the Win Now mode, than ever before.

What's gonna probably be debated here is the influence of Stephen Jones, more now than ever before.
i really believe Stephen was able to influence and convince Daddy Jones that it was time to move on from Garrett.

Mike will be back. He just went 12-5. With no injuries we should be around the same again. We just happened to play the hottest team in football at the time. Seems like that happens a lot to us. Gents 2007.

Quick poll before we enter the 2022 season. It’s been fairly clear that Mike McCarthy will start this season with a warm seat. A non-playoff season or maybe even another “one and done” playoff appearance would likely end his time here.

So who’s our head coach next year? Will Big Mac save his hide or not?
We should wait for the season and not click bait

McCarthy – has to advance the team competitively to at least to NFC title game. Does not have a hand print on this team, imo.
This is Not his hand print on offense, .. and this is not his hand print on defense. Feels like he’s practically more the Barry Switzer clip board care taker
than take charge HC.

Quinn – He’s won the spirit and confidence of his defensive unit. Seems to have motivational skills. Could that leader to HC leadership for the Cowboys ?
Also this is his defense scheme that best utilizes Parsons. If Quinn becomes HC, this scheme stays here. His hand print is on the team.
But he must have a better plan than what crumbled and caused his demise in ATL.

Payton- I believe Sean will return to HC within next 2 years, and contrary to opinions, I really believe wants to HC the Cowboys.
He knows the Jones, Jones know him, and it’s the Dallas Cowboys America’s team, and that maybe his American dream.
In Payton, they’d have the mad scientist offensive genius HC they have coveted and envisioned with Garrett- Kellen.
Catch 22 is the compensation price it would take to acquire Payton. What would the Jones be willing to give up.. or not give up ?

so why did not the very same owner/GM stay with his boy wonder Garrett for a little while longer .. ?

:(
That 2019 ending shook and scarred Jones.
He felt assured when the Garrett plan finally succeeded with the emergence of the 2014 team following the three straight 8-8 seasons.
The bounce-back 2016 & 2018 runs validated Jones' choice of Garrett.
But the 2019 2nd-half collapse back down to the dreaded 8- 8 pit ...added on to the three brief playoff appearances... made Jones do an about face on his apprentice HC...and he pulled the plug.

I expect a mediocre 10 win season and win the NFC least ...... and then get bumped in the wild card round.
First goal is make the playoffs
Then it’s simple, win the last game you play lol
I think a 10 win season and first round loss would mean a coaching change but I also think this team could be better than last years if a couple of the rookies and second year players develop quickly
Time will tell if that happens

For starters, MM has a 5 year contract. Secondly, the man took Dallas to the playoffs in his 2nd season. Had it not been for a pandemic, he would have done so in his first season as well.

Jerry held on to Coach 8-8 Garrett for a decade. HELLO!

The odds on McCarthy coming back aren’t very good unless he can win at least a couple of playoff games. Quinn is probably the favorite but I doubt many Cowboys fans would be excited with him after his head coaching stint in Atlanta. Although he led the Falcons to a Super Bowl they coughed up the biggest lead in Super Bowl history. All they did was cough up big leads with him as head coach. He probably wouldn’t last any longer than McCarthy. He’s better suited as a DC than a head coach.
