If Harris was nothing else, he was entertaining. Although he did make me choke on my food on more than one occasion trying to make something out of nothing. Now that he's gone, who do you feel are the candidates for his replacement?

I'm thinking maybe Ryan Williams or Devin Street. Or perhaps a speedster we acquire through the draft.

Thoughts?

i liked harris. but the last few years his returns have not been all that remarkable. his sweet sweet catch he makes a few times a year, i'm honestly not sure how that production can be replaced.

looks like the competition is open and hopefully we'll see someone step up in this role.

I'm hoping it will be Reggie Dunn. Kid was an outstanding return man at Utah and runs a 4.26 He is already on the Cowboys roster

Will be interesting to see this competition during TC. A few on the roster will be looked at as mentioned, but I say a drafted player, or even a FA signed later on.
We need to replace Harris, but he can also be a CB we bring in. We will need to have some more depth there anyway.

Who cares....kick returns are a dying part of the game anyways.

A KR who can give you good starting position makes a world of difference. It decreases the amount of yards you have to go to get in scoring position and it limits the time your Offense has to be on the field. (In some cases that's a very good thing.) Special teams is a major part of every game. You know that.

Punt Returner is the real question.
He was 5th in the league in PR average and had a TD called back.
Plus, as mentioned before. You can start on the 20 every time if you like on KRs with almost anyone back there. it'd be nice to have a game-breaker though.

Any reason why dez isnt used in certain situations? Injury concerns?

Also need to be smart on the returns. I think last year, Harris took too many chances, wanting to make a big play.
Need to not run out of the back of the endzone on returns. Let the ball go if inside the 10 yards line on a punt.
He seemed to take too many chances that cost us field position.

Was he trying to make the big play because it was a contract year, or just in his head he was better than he was. Not wanting to demean him by that comment, but can't think of a better way to put it. maybe over confident would be a better term.

Anyway I liked Harris, always have. But him moving on, is not a game changer either way. I think his ST's tackles will be missed more than his returns, based on last year.

I look forward to a change here.

Harris evolved into a player that was better at covering kicks and punts then he was as a return guy.

I wish we still had him but even if he was still here id rather have someone else as our return guy.
