Whoever it is, that OC is going to emphasize the running game. Wade has already mentioned to need of establishing a running game that takes the pressure off Romo, as well as reigns him in, preventing turnovers.

Al Saunders was lambasted in washington because he refused to run the ball with Portis, even in the red-zone if I remember correctly. It was Gibbs that had to force the issue and take control. Nobody liked Saunders here in DC.

I think it is crazy to think jerry would make wade fire two of his hires if he were going to fire him.

He would have just fired them all.

.

Very good point.

I read where Jason Campbell wasn't a good fit for Saunders' offense. Todd Collins ran it well, because he was familar with it. When he took over, they started winning.

Saunders knew what to do with Larry Johnson. He saw how Marshall Faulk was used when he was Mike Martz's assistant and coached WRs at St. Louis.

His offenses at K.C. were among the most balanced, and they were among the best in the NFL.

That would be nice, wouldn't it? Same coaching tree as Garrett, too.

Solari is still out there, isn't he? I never heard about him being hired anywhere. Or will Seattle just hold on to him?

And don't worry, theebs, Fassel will be the HC at Oakland. He's the only man in America who wants that job. ;)

They still have him. They may not let him go if he makes a lateral move.

Solari has OC experience as well. He took over for Al Saunders at K.C. and remained there for two years.

Ray Sherman isn't the answer, imo. That would be a mistake, imo.

I predict Al Saunders will be high on the list. He's with the Rams, and if Garrett is coming in, Saunders will be looking for work.

Reuniting Al Saunders and Mike Solari would be a great move.

Now those are solid ideas. However, Garrett could easily keep Saunders as OC in St Louis to help him there.

They suffered with Mark Brunnell in Washington, not just Campbell.. They blamed it on his lack of a big arm, which Campbell has. But they did say Collins had experience in the scheme, so you may be right. They also made fun of the complexity of his playbook in DC as well, saying it was very big. I don't know how that would mesh with our offense, considering our line seems to be pretty dumb.

But, the Rams have sucked it up this year, with a decent QB in Bulger, who happens to be throwing lots of INTs in that offense and a good back in Jackson.

It's possible, but if I were Jason Garrett, an offensive coach, I would call the plays and run the offense. Most young offensive coaches do it that way when they get head jobs. The buck stops with them. They bring offense to the game, and that side of the ball is their lifeblood.

Yeah, I wouldn't even be surprised if John Garrett were OC.

Well, Hudson Houck better get his s*** together and get those boys blocking consistantly. The running game somehow has to work without it constantly being run out of the shotgun formation, followed by the draw play.

:bang2:

What happened to running the ball without it 95% of the time being run from shotgun? That seems to be the only time the Cowboys somewhat effectively run well.

The Rams offensive line is in shambles. Stephen Jackson is always hurt. Bulger has Tory Holt on the decline. Bulger has no protection in that offense.

A big playbook can be scaled down some. Gibbs and Saunders learned the offense straight from the master, Don Coryell. Norv Turner and Mike Martz get their roots form Coryell.

I remember the Commanders when Saunders was there. It looked like Gibbs' offense to me. That is why they hired him. They gave him, gulp, $ 6 million dollars and outbid Dallas.

Bill Parcells wanted him, but the Commanders outbid us.
