Who would take Owens?

I know he is a great talent, but I didn't realize he was this bad. As far as the trouble goes, even Moss doesn't have anything on him. What teams out there do you think would take a chance and deal for him?

I think there are teams who would but I think they will be reluctant to pay out a big amont without some type of clause in the contract to protect themselfs from a TO meltdown. I do agree with Don Banks on teams that will not take the chance:

• Atlanta -- Sure, they need a No. 1 receiver for Michael Vick. But the last time Rich McKay went along with the idea of trading for a high-maintenance type with a big ego, he wound up working with Jon Gruden in Tampa Bay. And we all know how that relationship turned out for McKay.

• Cleveland -- What? With Kellen Winslow due back healthy in '06? OK, we'll give you that one.

• Denver -- If only Owens played running back, you'd be on to something.

• New York Giants -- T.O.'s not really a Tom Coughlin-type, is he?

• Minnesota -- The Vikings just had the guy who played only when he wanted to play. Why settle for the imitation?

• Green Bay -- Brett Favre would never allow it. He's kind of against the notion of receivers holding out.

• Detroit -- Too many receivers. Too much history with Steve Mariucci.

• Dallas -- Bill Parcells and T.O.? Are you kidding me? Parcells' ticker couldn't take it. The Antonio Bryant jersey-tossing incident would seem like a nice, playful gesture compared to the first time T.O. tried his act on the Tuna. And Owens wouldn't work in the Cowboys' offense, anyway, because he wouldn't be allowed to even step foot on the star in the middle of the field at Texas Stadium.

• Washington -- Joe Gibbs and Laveranues Coles couldn't co-exist, and Coles is a cupcake who wouldn't even register on the T.O. scale of volatility. Plus, the Commanders have no cap room until '12. Not even Daniel Snyder would fall for this one.

• Baltimore -- Over Ozzie Newsome's dead body. Yeah, the Eagles finally made the Super Bowl with T.O., but it turns out the Ravens were the real winners for losing the Owens sweepstakes last offseason. Look at all the fun they missed. Owens dissed Baltimore and accused Newsome, the Ravens' respected general manager, of racially charged comments. That bridge wasn't just burnt, it was blown to smithereens.

• San Francisco -- Not in a billion years would the 49ers organization welcome back their long, national nightmare. And besides, new San Francisco head coach Mike Nolan just came from Baltimore (see above).

• Oakland -- Yeah, we know it fits Al Davis' M.O. He loves the renegades. The rabble-rousers. He'd drool over the chance to team T.O. up with Randy Moss and have Kerry Collins throw deep every down. Blah, blah, blah.

Don't hold your breath denizens of the black and silver. The Raiders are loaded at receiver and just gave Jerry Porter $7 million in signing bonus this offseason. If the Raiders turned around and traded Porter to the Eagles for Owens, they'd have to take all the acceleration of Porter's bonus on their cap, and then still have to give Owens a boatload of new money at some point. All for the privilege of having him and Moss in the same combustible locker room. Does that really make sense?

I wouldn't rule out Synder making a play for him.

McNabb is a much better QB than Vick. TO would be screaming at Vick every time he ran with the ball instead of throwing it to him.

I dont think the Eagles would be willing to trade TO to a team like the Falcons who they would definitely have to go through to make it to the SB. TO also has a bad history with Falcons OC Greg Knapp from their time in SanFran. It's going to be a team in the AFC on the cusp of making a run.

Most contending teams with cap space would take a happy Terrell Owens. He has to be happy, though, and that's the clincher. Can you imagine the damage to enemy defenses if he were a Viking, Colt, or Ram?

I think other teams will be interested but I think these team owners are going to put clauses in that contract to protect themselves. TO is a player not the coach and not the owner and just because something does not go TO way does not give him a right to act the way he has. He has ripped on both QB he has played for and has been a complete distraction at both teams he has played on. I agree others may take a chance but they are foolish if they do not have something in the contract to protect themselves from a TO meltdown.

I agree 100%. Anyone sane who signs TO will want to protect themselves with the right contract clauses. I think TO would agree-- behind his brash nature is clearly an intense desire to compete and win.

the vikings can handle him

Just got rid of a guy like him. If they were looking to handle someone they could have just kept Moss.
