If I had the choice to pick the team captains, say 2 on offense, 2 on defense and 1 on special teams, I would pick:

Offense: (1) Tony Romo, (2) Leonard Davis (the QB choice is obvious, and the rest of the O needs to start thinking Bigg).
Defense: (1) Bradie James (2) Jay Ratliff (James is a natural born leader, and Ratt is Super Bowl hungry - now that's leadership).
Specials: (1) Nick Folk (yes, the kicker, because he's an accurate points-generating machine, when needed).

So who would you pick and why?

Offense: Romo / Jwitt (they show the most leadership by working together after practice drawing up play)..no but seriously, those 2.

Defense: James / Dware

Special Teams: Carpenter - Just because he is one of the seasoned vets on ST right now.

Romo and Bradie James. That's it. I thought it was overkill the past few seasons when Dallas had 53 captains.

Edit: I forgot to provide the "why".......I picked these two because they are the unquestioned leaders of each side of the ball.

Offense: Romo, Witten
Defense: Ware, James
ST: Carpenter, especially if he keeps up the great camp he's having so far

Since we don't have any actual leaders, I'll go with guys who everyone on the team should follow.

Offense - Witten, Barber
Defense - Ratliff, Ware
Special Teams - Folk

O - Romo (You absolutely have to have your franchise QB as a captain... those suggesting otherwise are nuts), Witten

D - James (Cpt of the Defense) and Ratliff (Reward the Motor; Ware gets enough recognition)

ST - LP (because why pick between Folk and McBriar? Take the guy that snaps to both of them)

I see alot of people suggesting Ratliff. I love it.

He is the type of player that this defense needs. His attitude, motor, and production really need him to become our emotional leader on defense. Bradie may be the guy, but we need an emotional leader.

If he can become that guy, this defense has potential to be one of, if not the best in the league.

Off=Romo because his qb and it's his job to lead that side of the ball. Quitely loudly by example whatever it takes

Def=James because in ways I've notice his the heart and mouth of def.

St.=depends on who makes team but at this point I'd say cricket because of his emotion. I think you need someone who either hits hard or shows emotions during kickoffs and punt situations.

Defense: Rat - I want his personality to permeate the rest of the D
Offense: Columbo - He is nasty AND VOCAL
ST: Hodge - It will be a rook ST this season & Hodge is the biggest hitter & the most anal about doing things right

Offense: Romo and Witten
Defense: Hamlin and James
Special Teams: Most of the guys this unit comprises of is on the bubble, for the exception of the kickers; and since each kicker/punter only play's on one unit, I wouldn't want them as the captain anyway. It should be a tenured player who is valuable to every unit within Special Teams.

What's it going to be then, eh?

Greg Ellis. Even though he's a Raider now, he was such a great person I think it would be an outstanding gesture.

O:
Romo (self-explanatory)
Witten (he's well respected and hard working. What else could you want in a team leader?)
D:
Ware (the Witten of the defense)
James (seems to relish the leadership role. I like his fire to D-Ware's icy cool)
S/T:
Hurd. Not sure if he's on every unit, but he seems to relish his role.
