All the swirling speculation about who our next head coach will be probably boils down to who will agree to surrender their coaching and personal dignity, and agree to all of the below terms:
  • Must be willing to work well below market value for NFL head coach salaries today and willing to work on incentive laden contract.
  • Must allow owner/GM/GM’s children to select assistant coaches and staff members for the HC with or without consent.
  • Must be willing to allow owner/GM to be “face of the franchise” and dominate all media communication regarding players, games, etc.
  • Must be agreeable to owner/GM naming the “head coach in waiting” and have that guy on his staff.
  • Must be agreeable to owner/GM to interrupt practices at any time with helicopter landings, fan tours, celebrity tours, etc.
  • Must be agreeable to be publicly humiliated by owner/GM at any time.
  • Must agree to be held accountable for the GM and son’s most egregious mistakes.
  • Head coaching experience not as important as being cheap and compliant.
Whoever best fits this description will be hired. In fact, to put it even more succinctly, the two most important qualities JJ and SJ are looking for in the next HC come down to this:
  1. Being cheap
  2. Being compliant

thats most of the work force in the country.
•none of us are paid what we should
•and being complient goes with keeping a job...til you have another option...then you can tell'm to shove it.
I don’t know where you work, but that’s never been my experience.

I should have just made the title of this thread, “Cheap and Compliant”. Those are the two most critical qualities in what the Jones boys look for.
its like the draft or free-agency.
i need to stop having a "wish-list" with these 2 in charge.

True! But I guess the more important point here is the job requirements Bob posted do not apply in well-run NFL organizations who are focused on winning.
We are in the money making business. Football is just a side project for Jerry.

100%

I'm sure other franchises have some nepotism and meddling by owners, but I think Dallas is #1 in that regard in how much they want their fingers over everything

It’s too hard to predict what these fools will do anymore. We can speculate all we want but just like the draft they will typically go in the opposite direction of what we want. For all those wanting a DT or Jeanty, look at DE or Guard. For all those wanting Ben Johnson, look at Schotty. It’s maddening. Like get a philosophy here. Quit winging it all the time.

Actually, we can always predict. Here are the steps:
1. Think about what the stupidest scenario would be.
2. Now you know what will happen.

All you need is an offensive line, and a running back, just like the Eagles that’s all team can run itself. Just keep handing the ball off.
