I'm obviously very thrilled about this, but at the same time I have to think, if they just let Romo have control of his offense last year, instead of drafting a whole new one, we wouldn't have seen an 8-8 repeat.

Kind of goes back to my Escobar vs. Hanna debate. Is Escobar better? Probably, but the guys last year were more than capable of doing the job if they were just utilized correctly.

You don't know Hanna's capabilities as much as Romo or Garrett, obviously they weren't pleased with his performance otherwise they wouldn't have spent a 2nd on a TE. Remember Hanna was a 6th pick, just because he looked solid in a few games does not mean he has mass potential. That was perhaps the best he is capable of.

negates what we have in Hanna.

8 catches 86 yards, calm down.

And for the Dwayne Harris lovers..
17 catches 31 targets 222 yards 1 TD

This is almost on the level as the guy last year who said "we need to trade Jenkins because he is going to spend the whole game on the bench." Players rotate in and out. They do for every team. And it doesn't hurt to have depth.

And considering that we will likely carry only 3 TEs, a formation with 3 TEs maybe shouldn't be anything more than a marginal part of our offense.

I don't think carrying 3 tight ends is probable at all. We'll almost certainly carry 4.

That being said you use 13 in short yardage situations.

When I see another RT signed, preferably Clabo, I will start taking it serious. Obviously we have all the skill players one could want, but quick passes or not, you have to block.

I must admit I am very excited to see how this new offense works especially with all the receivers we have now!

1st down. Run = 2 yards.

2nd down pass = 6 yards.

3rd down. pass = interception.

I'm very excited, because Jason Garrett is constantly getting demoted as far as the offensive play-calling is concerned.

Actually, if you listen to the Cowboys organization they indicate that the desire to use a significant amount of 13 personnel was one of the reasons they gave for making the pick. If the Cowboys indicated it was an important consideration, why wouldn't it insult your intelligence a little bit if that turned out to be complete nonsense?

There has been a lot of talk with the new "Romo Friendly" offense. All the details of what that means we don't know.

But there have been whispers that this is going to be a more uptempo higher paced offense allowing Romo to basically call the shots at the line of scrimmage utilizing his high football IQ to read the defensive looks.

This excites me for a variety of reasons. In fact, I was calling for it last season when it worked so effectively to get up and down the field.

Less Predictability - Rather then allowing the defensive coaches to dictate their personnel and line up the proper guys to stop what the offense is doing, this allows Tony to outpace the defense. Not only will this cause fatigue on the defense, but it will create frustration and cause problems for the coaches. (12 men on the field etc...)

More offensive line friendly - This new offense will create less pressure on the offensive line. Quicker plays, quicker snapping the ball and quicker getting the ball out. They are going to need to be in excellent condition to withstand the pace of the game.

Let's hope this is the plan, and they are finally adapting to this seeing as it has worked excellent in the limited time they have used a quicker paced offense. All on board?

Would LOVE to see this. Where has it been the past 7 years?

I think we're going to end up seeing more an evolution of the previous offense than something whole and new.

We've been trying since 2006 to find that second TE to open things up. We've had partial success with that, but we're not going to see what NE does in Dallas. We've got two guys who can legitimately play the Y receiver role, though, one of whom is still an excellent in line blocker.

I think the change we see will mostly come from having Tony more involved in the game planning and, as a result, probably with the calling of the plays. We may see the team use more hurry-up as a result. It remains to be seen what happens there, but it's probably at least part of the reason behind why they've been coy about play calling. They probably don't know themselves yet just how it's going to work out, and a lot of it's probably going to depend on the QB.

As for the OL, you have to think they're still looking at a value veteran for the right side. Brandon Moore makes the most sense in my book, since the team has indicated they're ok with their OTs--assuming Free agrees to a pay cut, and Moore's got a history of recent success under Callahan. Also, the fact that they haven't filed the Livings contract revision says to me they might be looking at a veteran upgrade at one of those OG spots.

So essentially the complete antithesis of a Jason Garrett led offense.

Lol I'll believe it when I see it. They talk this crap every year. Remember (we love competition and the best man will play) but it took an injury for Harris to play over ogle tree. Garrett is a punk and a horrible leader.........and a liar.

i think evolution is more appropriate. we have tried this in the past and could'nt get it down with the te's we had. does'nt mean romo will be calling the plays, he may sometimes but they do have recievers in their helments and they will call in plays to him. it's all about creating mismatches. the 12 gives you great opportunities to create favorable match ups and i think it will help our run game because of those matchups.

New Romo-friendly?

Jed's been spouting that for years all the while skimping with the OL.

Makes zero sense.
