Mr. loudmouth got shut up again last night!!! I tell people all the time, while I respect his ability to make a big play, the guy isnt a #1. I got Eagle friends telling me he is unstoppable, just to fast for everyone. While he may one of the fastest guys in the league, there is more to being a top WR than speed. I sat all week, with respect for the guy's big play ability, and said nothing. I love reading all the tweets and quotes in the paper. Hey DJAx, tweet this!!! You been "stung"!!!

Am I wrong or is this guy a media darling who is a bit overated??? Good Player, but great??? Still dont get him getting pro bowl berth let alone starting it. They must have only counted the votes of the Giants players??

The absolute only reason anybody started acting like Jackson is dangerous is because almost every touchdown pass he caught this year was 60+ yards. Everyone just goes OMG BIG PLAY ABILITY without analyzing the fact that blown coverages caused almost all of them.

60 something catches, 1150 yards, 9 TDs. That's a middle of the pack season for an NFL receiver, not a pro bowl season, yet here he is. He's the Deangelo Hall of offense.

Desean Jackson is hard to like as a person, but the guy is a true talent. It's just that he can be taken out of the game more easily than a guy like Mile Austin. He isn't very physical.

However, I wouldn't just say it was almost all blown coverages, etc. The guy caught TDs, but he also ran for a long TD and had several dazzling punt returns as well. W/O his mouth, I'd love to see him play for us.

Just the fact that he can be taken out of the game purely by playing 10 yards off him and not missing tackles tells me that my point is correct. He's simply a fast guy and a dynamic open field runner, but not a dominant WR talent.

That has always been my point, highlight 60 yard catches are great, but where is everything else. The consistent 6-8 catch games for 90-120 every Sunday?? Austin a better all around player w/o the MOUTH!!!

He's really more of a complimentary player IMO. He cant be THE guy. You cant run the offense through him. And Macklin is basically the same, but even less advanced as a route runner.

If those are middle of the pack numbers, then there's not very many receivers that are good enough to be middle of the pack.

He's a dynamic player but not a guy an offense can go through. At least not yet. I think the Hall comparison isn't bad. Historically, Hall can provide a game changing interception few others can. He'll follow it up by getting beat several times.

Jackson can strike at any moment. But when he isn't striking deep (aka stinging they ***?), he's almost useless other than as a decoy.

So you wouldn't want Jackson on your team? Lets get this straight.

No doubt. I didn't see your post when I wrote mine above, but your thoughts mirror mine.

Offensively, Philly is missing a running back that can be leaned on. Everyone talks about them needing to run more, but let's be real, handing off to their fullback isn't a key to success. And Westbrook looks shot. That is a major weakness.

So too is the lack of a receiver that can be fed the ball. They sought a bunch of playmakers -- and got them -- but have no bread-and-butter player.

Thirdly, I believe McNabb is a very good player. Historically speaking, he accomplished a lot in this league. But he has limitations that I think will forever hold that team back. He's a good passer who can throw deep as well as anyone, but he is woefully inaccurate underneath and on the intermediate routes. And frankly, that's where ball games are won. I think that has been and will continue to be a huge problem for as long he is their quarterback. The dillemma for them, though, is where do you go? Do you get rid of a guy who is good enough to get you to the playoffs almost every year, but has an inherrent flaw that will get you beat? Or is it time to roll the dice and see if Kolb can even get you to the postseason, much less provide what McNabb can't?

I think Jackson is a complimentary threat. He's a first-rate playmaker, but a complimentary receiver. If that makes sense.
