Deion Sanders
Years in Dallas: 1995-99
Case for: Considered one of the best cornerbacks in NFL history.
Case against: None – famed attorney Richard "Racehorse" Haynes couldn't keep Sanders out of the Hall of Fame.

Larry Allen
Years in Dallas: 1994-2005
Case for: The most decorated offensive lineman in franchise history (10 Pro Bowl appearances).
Case against: Overrated player whose teams won one Super Bowl and 10 or more games four times.

Charles Haley
Years in Dallas: 1992-96
Case for: Was a key pass-rusher on five Super Bowl teams, including three with the Cowboys.
Case against: His temperamental attitude and poor relationship with the media could hurt him.

Cliff Harris
Years in Dallas: 1970-79
Case for: Is a member of the exclusive Ring of Honor and the all-decade team of the '70s.
Case against: Only seven pure safeties are in the Hall of Fame, and none have made it since 1980.

Jerry Jones
Years in Dallas: 1989-present
Case for: Three Super Bowls wins; a powerful voice who helped keep league the strongest in pro sports.
Case against: Maverick approach to marketing and revenue sharing has alienated many colleagues.

Jimmy Johnson
Years in Dallas: 1989-93
Case for: Resurrected a moribund franchise and won consecutive Super Bowls.
Case against: Limited success in Miami; didn't match longevity of game's greatest coaches.

Darren Woodson
Years in Dallas: 1992-2004
Case for: Cowboys' all-time leading tackler revolutionized position be- cause he could cover slot receivers.
Case against: It's difficult for any safety who hasn't also played cornerback to get into the Hall.

Nate Newton
Years in Dallas: 1986-98
Case for: Arguably the team's best lineman when the Cowboys won three Super Bowls during a four-year stretch (1992-95).
Case against: Like Irvin, off-field issues taint his career.

This made me giggle. I'd say that's a pretty good case for! :p:

While his list is very complimentary of the 90's teams, it's fairly insulting to the 70's teams (with the lone exception being Harris for the Hall). Maybe he wanted to keep his list short, but it is a noticeable slight, imo.

Yes to the ROH for Darren Woodson, Larry Allen, Jimmy Johnson as well as former head of scouting Gil Brandt who you didn't mention. Allen also makes the HOF but neither Woodson (who I love) nor Johnson will make it.

Tacky for Jerry Jones to put himself in the ROF but he won't make HOF unless he gets at least 1 more SB.

Love Newton as a really good OL during our great 90s team but his imprisonment for drugs makes it very difficult to name him to the ROH and frankly there are more deserving players like Moose Johnston.

No to ROH to either Deion nor Charles Haley. Deion's also said when he is inducted into the HOF he will go in as an Atlanta Falcon. I also wouldn't be surprised if Haley went into the HOF as a SF 49er. Since both seem feel greater loyalty to other teams, why in the world should we honor them as Cowboy players.

Bullet Bob for the HOF? I'd say so. His body of work isn't outstandingly long (which is probably what's kept him out thus far), but he completely changed the way offenses were run.

I'd give him a vote.

I'll like to add that it would be equally disrespectful of Jones to put himself in the Ring of Honor before he allows Drew Pearson to be installed.

And Pearson is not in because of some silly little squabble over an internet site or something like that!

Jerra is a gazillionair, and for him (if true) to hold some sort of grudge or what-not against Pearson is just bogus!

Let's all go to Dallas and kick Jerra's butt!!

Deion Sanders. No one affected the game the way he did. No one could turn the tide for his team the way he could.

If based on skills and durability and popularity, Woodsen.

For some reason, at least in my high-octane mind, Newton, Allen and Haley all left lingering sour thoughts.
Newton the jailbird, Allen the brooding and hideous earth mover and Haley the with the mind that was a terrible thing.

Deion!
Woodson!:)

Jerry will get put in, sadly, after he passes away and the next owner takes over. I think he is too proud to put himself in. It may be awhile.

Of the original list from this thread, I like Woodson, but don't think any of them will get put in. Maybe Larry Allen after he gets put into the HOF but I would seriously doubt it.

I don't think he's stupid enough to put himself in the RoH, Stephen will probably do that after Jerry quits, if he ever quits. IMO. I agree DP should go and soon. Jimmy created the dynasty of the '90s and he should go even though he was only here for 5 years. Put him in the HoF too, soon. Any coach that wins back to back SBs should be in the HoF.

I agree with your assessments of these players and their chances/merits for the Hall of Fame. I would add to that list the name of Drew Pearson though he has been all but eliminated for consideration for either honor I think he should be accorded BOTH honors.

I see the Ring of Honor as having a completely different set of criteria from the Hall of Fame. The only candidates for the Ring of Honor (who are not already there) that I see on your list are Darren Woodson (without question) and possibly Larry Allen. Again I would personally add Drew Pearson to the list.

We are putting the cart ahead of the horse here folks. First the decision has to be made that another former Cowboy great will be put in the ring of honor. I don't believe we are at that point yet.

As for the HOF, that answer is pretty obvious.
