Who's starting at center tonight?

Probably Kowalski though Nagy could get time there considering Holland will probably start at guard. Just to get Nagy some playing time at center if Costa doesn't make it back in time.

Nagy has to get some time there -- if we are working on the "best 5" principle, an injury at center means Holland gets in the game (as he is pretty much our 6th best OL)

I think Kowlaski ends up on the PS as he wouldn't be a gameday active anyway -- meaning that if we needed him to play we'd always have a week to get him on the roster.

I know he has been getting left off a lot of projections, but I think Kowalski makes this team.

Is Costa certain to be ready for the opener?I hope his backup plays the entire game because of the uncertainty of his status.

He did a pretty good job against a good Vikings d line. Of course, an actually game would be much tougher as they would scheme to breakdown the offensive line's coverages.

For some reason, I keep forgetting we have Holland as a backup. It gives us a lot more depth to think we can sustain an injury to center or guard and just slide Nagy over and bring in a veteran. Makes me feel better about the OL. Otherwise, the alternative is to play another rookie along with the two we've already got. That's scary.

Still need a serviceable swing tackle.

If we're keeping 10, he pretty much has to make it, doesn't he? I think it's a done deal there after he passed his test in MIN.

my guess is we start the game with Parnell-Nagy-Kowalski-Holland-Smith

then Young will sub for Smith probably in the 2nd qtr or so

the the 2nd half will be Parnell-Nagy/Arkin-Kowalski/Nagy-Letuli-Young

the only reason i even think Smith plays at all is b/c he's a rookie, otherwise i'd say neither he or Free would play. and Kosier is hurt and didn't make the trip

The rule is that you don't cut offensive lineman who can play a little bit. Kowalski showed that he can already. If he got released, a bunch of teams would put in claims. For that reason, I don't think He's not going anywhere.

Isn't the 3rd preseason game usually the game where teams gameplan a little and put out a little extra effort, or was that different this year? I haven't really been keeping up as well as I should.

Give him a break, he was without power for a few days and the lack of electronics put him a little on edge mentally :laugh2:

I sure hope they keep Kowalski on the 53. He showed some promise. He is young. This team has had issues for years getting talent at a young age to save them long term.

At tackle they will keep Free and Smith with Parnell as a project. Young sticks for another year to give him a last shot unless a logical swing backup becomes available and they need that more than Young as a project.

At guard they go with Nagy, Kosier, Holland, Arkin. No brainer.

At center they go with Costa and Kowalski.

Really should go 10 deep here. Need options long term. Kosier will get replaced in 1-2 years by Arkin or someone else so having depth now will save us the headache later.

True, but not on the level that you would in an actual game.

I think he's got a legit shot because we have no depth there, and maybe in this case it's true, but I'm starting to wonder why there are so many people that believe every UDFA we cut monday morning will be on a plane to a new team by monday night?

So we cut Sam Young then?

The other team would have to know that the starter was out and the replacement was an untested rookie free agent in order to game plan against him.
