Who's Zeke's backup?

Last year was just icing on the cake, so to speak. Parcells got rid of the druggie Quincy Carter in a New York minute. Can’t have addicts and people you can’t trust in important positions. Can’t have a star RB who is a druggie doing stupid crap off the field. He does not have the mental makeup to be a true champion and warrior in my book. Always something with certain players. He is one.

Michael Irvin is not the exception that makes the rule.

There are alot of players in the past AND present that use drugs and played great. Im not condoning drug use, but Joe Montana used drugs and was one of the best to have ever played, Randy Moss used drugs and was one of the best to have ever played.....

Lawrence Taylor used drugs and was arguably the best player to have ever stepped on the field and guess who his coach was.... BILL PARCELLS!!! Maybe he didn't get rid of Taylor in a "New York minute" because his watch was broke.

If you really believe there aren't drug users in all major sports, that means you've apparently just started watching sports.

tannehill is worse than dalton. dinucci and gilbert?

Did you forget who played QB the first 5 games? How convenient. Tannehill is no better a QB than Dalton. Tannehill has better legs. That is all. Take Henry away from Tannehill and you have Benny Hill at QB (humor alert).

So, yeah, Elliott played on a team with superior WRs and a 'better' QB and a little less OL and got doubled by Henry.

Come on now the Titans O-line was better than what we had most of the season...no doubt Henry is a beast but our O-line was in shambles most of the season.

Yes, it was better. How much better? Go look at who played OL for the Titans. Go look at who played WR for the Titans. Go look at who played QB for the Titans. Put it all together and weigh it.

Just looking at the rankings for 2020 not taking out the pass block ranking (Titans whole line ranked out better run blocking than pass blocking) the titans were 15th actually seems low...the Cowboys ranked 27th (that actually seems high)..now again I can not argue who was better as Henry was a beast and clearly the best RB in the league last and probably the year before...but Zeke suffered because of injuries there is no way to deny that..

No, Elliott did not 'suffer' from injuries. Henry did twice as much with less overall talent on offense than Elliott had. Is Henry twice as talented as Elliott? No. Henry just wanted it more and has the heart of a champion. Elliott went through the motions last year. Elliott thought he could just show up and succeed. Worked at OSU. Worked in 2016 with one of the best OL in the history of the NFL. Hasn't worked much since the talent at OL dropped down some, has it?

Henry would not have lead the league in rushing last year behind the offense that played 90% of the games....no amount of heart or want to could make it happen, I'm not sure how that is hard to see....would he have done better I believe last year yes he was a better back for sure..but it would not have been anything to write home about.

Who doesn't regard Pollard as a full time rb? Some people actually wanted him to take over for Zeke last year.
Even if you don’t think pollard can be the full time RB you don’t cut depth at other spots for a guy who won’t even be active
If Zeke goes down for an extended time you go find a guy or you have one on PS
You don’t carry a guy on the 53

Pollard had 101 rushing attempts last season. It was the first time - in college or the NFL - had over 100 carries in a season.

Is he capable of rushing 250-300 times? Is he built for that? The fact is we don't know. He has no history of doing anything close to that.

What "some people wanted" means nothing.

Thanks for this chart.
I'd only be interested in a guy that could help us in special teams- primarily a returner.
-Dion Lewis
-TJ Logan
-Tyler Irvin

I would take anybody that isn't a malcontent like Bell or ancient like Peterson, mainly because I believe, from what I've heard so far, Smith, Collins and Martin will be at least near to top form, so even a decent running back, be it Pollard or someone from the list, will be able to be at least effective, if not better than average...

Take your pick:
16 Le'Veon Bell UFA 29 KC
17 Todd Gurley UFA 26 ATL
25 Chris Thompson UFA 30 JAC
26 Adrian Peterson UFA 36 DET
31 Dion Lewis UFA 30 NYG
32 Frank Gore UFA 38 NYJ
33 DeAndre Washington UFA 28 MIA
35 Kyle Juszczyk UFA 30 SF
43 LeSean McCoy UFA 33 TB
44 Alfred Morris UFA 32 NYG
48 Kenjon Barner UFA 32 TB
51 Tyler Ervin UFA 27 GB
60 T.J. Yeldon UFA 27 BUF
61 Ty Montgomery UFA 28 NO
62 Dwayne Washington UFA 27 NO
64 Senorise Perry UFA 29 TEN
66 T.J. Logan UFA 26 TB

how is todd gurley 26? seems like he's been around forever.

I don't think Pollard is a 20+ carry guy, but I don't think we need a 20 carry guy with our passing game talent and how the NFL is basically rigged to give up easy completions.

Pollard can handle the bulk of the work, and then you just sign a scrap heap power back for 4th quarter clock killing situations.

How about you take your foot off his neck for just one more year.

Give him another shot to prove his worth to you. Since he has sucked so hard...no leading the NFL in rushing ever...not laying blocks covering for a crappy o-line. Maybe you are right....doesn't deserve another down.

Start Pollard.
I haven't said that at all, and in fact posted earlier that Pollard was a big unknown because he has never been a full time RB, and I defended Elliott against the Quincy Carter comparison. When I mentioned looking at options I wasn't suggesting a mad scramble to find a replacement this year. Elliott will have 2021 to prove he is still capable of being the lead guy and worthy of the size of his paycheck

I know we have Tony Pollard but is he the replacement should Zeke get injured?
He's got nice RB skills but I don't think anyone regards him as a full time RB.
It Pollard is the guy, who's his backup?

This is another monster failing of Jerry as GM. He never has a good young RB as a 3rd guy. Gotta keep them rotating in like he should be doing with QB's.

Hi Omer. I think something went wrong here. I do not think I directed that comment at you at all.

I think I have found you to be fair and even tempered. I apologize for any confusion.

Zeke does need to RE-prove himself this year...and hopefully Dak and O-line will help him...just like any good rb needs.

Why couldn't Pollard be a full time RB? If you mean a 300 carry RB there arent many of those left in the NFL.

There was ONLY two backs in the NFL last year with over 300 carries. Henry at 378 and Cook at 312. The next closest RB was Jocobs at 273.

Pollard had 101 carries last year.

You quoted me, but perhaps your intent was to comment on the same posts I was responding to. In any case, we're cool. Seems we usually have similar thoughts on things.

Henry doubled his output with not much better talent on the OL and much less talent at QB and WR. Explain that. Or should I say, let’s hear excuses.

I'm not calling you a liar, but this is an absolute lie.

The Titans offensive line were ranked 6th by the end of the season last year, the Cowboys offensive line ranked 27th and it was stated that it was largely due to injury. Tannehill was ranked 12th, Dalton was ranked 31st.

With that said, Zeke didn't have the help around him running behind 3rd stringers and undrafted offensive linemen. That's not excuses, those are cold hard facts. So its evident that you're lying to continue your hate for Zeke. Im not calling you a liar, but you lied about Zeke having the same opportunity to succeed as Henry did.

How about the "Methuselah of running backs" - Frank Gore.
16,000 yards rushing - third all-time; only 726 behind Walter Payton and 2,355 less than Emmitt.
