Why are RKG Defensive Players Always Hurt?

I honestly think the injury issues are due in part to a cultural concern. Parcells had players like Witten going out there with broken jaws. We allow players like Miles Austin to milk hamstring issues for an entire year. We allowed Jay Ratliff to linger around even after Jones suggested he needed to get out there.

There are a few players who would play on bloody stumps if they could (Lee, Romo), but they are few and far between.

Like Walt Garrison playing with a broken leg type of guy....

Matt Johnson?

My theory is that the rkg is an average/above average athlete that are nice guys and as you know, last guys finish last.

As popovich said, we need more nasty.

Any quote by the World's Greatest Coach gets a "Like" from me.

This thread is unbelievably stupid.

???? Why???? For whatever reason, most of our injuries are on defense. Specifically, a lot of guys who are drafted as RKG are injured. Is it just coincidence? The offensive players who are RKG's do not get hurt as much. Why is that? Just wanted to compile thoughts as to why that is.

As others have said, we need more enforcers on our defense. We have a bunch of finesse players who can't hang, and thus are easily hurt.

And I certainly wouldn't call them smart players either. I don't think I would describe Heath or Carter as smart players...

I said this the in another thread the other day. Our guys are always hurt because we try to cute and go to TJ Maxx to get Ralph Lauren.

We think we get bargains but the bargains we get in the 2nd are hurt. We then say, we had a 1st round grade on this guy and got a steal! There is a reason why they dropped. They are good players, just injury prone. As for Mo the jury is still out, but our scouts might have blown it. Remember on draft day he dropped all the way to 6 and everybody that he was going to go top 4? Maybe there was a reason!

You need a front seven to win in this league. You can try to get shut down corners, but with no pass rush, they'll be exposed over and over again.

We've really skimped out on pass rushers. We got Ware and then we drafted Spencer in 2007. What pass rushers have we drafted since 2007?

Not a single one...

6 years and we drafted NO pass rushers... This team has been so unbalanced. I'm not even sure where we are putting our resources.

We aren't drafting QBs, we weren't drafting offensive linemen...

Let's investigate rounds 1-3 since 2003

1st round
cb, olb, de, lb, olb, rb, cb, wr, t, cb, c
2nd round
c, rb, ot, lb, te, te, lb, lb, te
3rd round
te, g, de, t, lb, ot, rb, de, wr, s

then you have to look at the 1st and 3rd we spent on roy williams.

Much of the problem was the move to the 3-4, I maintain that til this day. The other part of the problem is that we relied completely on Spencer and Ware as pass rushers. Probably because we had ratliff, but even then it isn't excusable.

We drafted way too many corners, and obviously way too many tight ends. Our inability to hit on linebackers has really hurt us, since we've also invested a lot there. Our misses on the line have also hurt us.

Ultimately it just goes down to bad drafting.

FWIW, Broaddus tweeted that McClay will put an end to drafting injured players and players coming off injuries in college. BTW has any of these type players who were coming off injury worked out for us?

What? Who is McClay?

Right Kinds of Guys are softies. Both emotionally and physically apparently.

What we need is some hardened thugs.

The next executive we can pretend is really in charge. A lot like Ciskowski.

I thought Jerry was the final say?

You know, I have followed this team since it's beginning, and today, I have no friggen clue who is who anymore.

This guy is the pro personnel guy and is supposedly putting the board together. He is best known for being the HC of the Dallas Desperados, the arena football team.

What! lol Well, that might explain the type of players he is focusing on.

Come to think of it....this team is pass, pass, pass, punt.

Great description, we need some thugs, bad boys, whatever stereotype that needs to be associated, but mean on and off the field :) You also need a few squares like Aikman to keep the crew focused.

Putting what board together?

We have a pro personnel board?
