Why are some fans suprized by Romo??

Truth is Romo has the most important aspect of being a good QB on his side. The 6 inches between his ears! The kids SMART, a quick thinker. A QB's brain has ALWAYS been and always will be the most important factor in determining success. Heck at this level ALL QB's are amazing athletes, its the mind that seperates the good ones from the mediocre. You can just see it in the kid, he reads and reacts with lightning quickness.

..............Who cares if he went undrafted. Im saying wev'e had 4 1/2 games to watch the kid now, to form an opinion. Go by what your own 2 eyes are telling you NOT outdated info of him being undrafted as thats pretty meaningless right about now. The kids supersmart.

We have an undrafted QB which, other than preseason, we knew nothing about. 4 1/2 games later he comes in and looks like a Pro Bowler. Its not every day that this happens. So you can see where the surpise might come from. Hey, I don't care if he went undrafted or with the #1 overall pick. You asked a question why people are surprised and I am just trying to answer it with my opinion.

I think "gun shy" might be a better explanation.

We've been stuck in mediocrity so long at the QB position that some are afraid to allow themselves to believe that we are on our way out of it.

My other main point is QB,ing is ALOT more about Mental ability " quick decision making" than it is about physical prowess, always has been, although it helps. Besides, Romo is pretty athletic himself.

I agree. And I love the way he seems unrattled and bounces back after he makes a mistake.

I am happy with what he is done. I'll admit I am surprised as well.

Division I-AA is notorious for producing QBs who put up ridiculous numbers in college and fail to have any success in the NFL.

Romo's numbers, while good, weren't anything special at the I-AA level.
