Why Are Teams Breaking Camp After This Week?

It seems like most if not all NFL teams are breaking training camp, or at least breaking the pattern of keeping the players in a dorm environment this week.

Why not keep the team in the dorms right up until the first regular season game? There is alot to correct...wouldn't it help more if the players were able to focus solely on football fundamentals and getting ready for the regular season without the distractions of girlfriends and family?

I guess to cut down on the travel, after the next pre-season game aginst NO all other games are in Dallas. Why fly back and forth from Oxnard to Dallas?

You do realize that real students live in those dorms, right?

i always wondered that too.

for the cowboys...it makes sense b/c their last two pre-season games are in dallas.

maybe 3 weeks of 2 a day's is enough. i'm sure it's tough physically.

in our case they need to play in the heat for a bit just to get used to it, oxnard probably feels like the arctic compared to this texas heat.

I'm sure even football players deserve a work/life balance that most of us strive to achieve (or complain about)

You do realize that they have lives to get back to right? I mean 3 weeks of intense training is enough, it is time for them to get back to their families and lives. Sometimes I think fans don't realize that players are people to and they have real lives just like you and I.

They have been camp for almost a month, thats enough for them to get ready. Even though they go back to Dallas, they still are going to be practicing and spending the whole day at the Ranch, they can just go home to their own places at night.

True but then again they have a lot more free time than most for 6 months out of the year. Real lives like you and I? not sure what kind of job you have but their lives are a bit different. :laugh2:

It's most certainly different... but, they don't have 6 months off... they still have to work out, offseason work outs and mini camps, study play books and watch film...

I did not say the had 6 month off I said they had more free time for 6 month. Guys do go in and workout, some early in the morning some later in the day but that may be only a couple of hours and it is not every day.

ya, it's not a "regular" job... but, they don't possess a "regular" skill set, either... much like an actor/actress...

I'm not saying that, only pointing out their lives are a bit different from the regular working class joe. You know those folks we are the ones who buy the tickets, the jerseys and make them a star without us they are just football players. :laugh2:

Mo is too stupid to understand anything. I have just had an issue with NFL players being like the average guys dating back to the strike. After all it was the 1st time in my life I watched millionairs go on strike kind of blew me away and to hear some of them saying they were like all other working class people just never set well with me. Many of us work our butts off and earn enough to keep the bill collectors happy

They need to get back to the nice Texas heat..so TO can keep his hammy loose..

alot of training camps are using college dorms so they have to move on to make room for students and they need time to adjust to this fine texas heat. plus why travel back and forth across the country.it's not like they won't be working just as much just at their own facilities

Even millionaires deserve to be treated fairly.
