He still has a year left on his deal. He's going to get paid big money and deserves it.

But why pay him a year early? Best case its an uncapped year and Dallas can frontload the contract. Worst case he gets franchised IF a long term agreement isn't met.

Dallas seems prepared to pay Ware big bucks. If you are not getting a discount from his agent for doing it a year early, then why bother? Never know what might happen (god forbid he gets hurt).

Why not just wait? I thought the same thing last year when Barber got his contract. Simply put, lets say Barber has a break out year. Does he get a BETTER contract than the one he signed? I doubt it. It was top 5 RB $$$$$.

All risk, no reward. If MB needed to be locked up now, he'd be significantly cheaper.

Because, once again as this was asked earlier, he's the best player on your defense, the best defensive player in the league, and he's deserves every penny. You take care of your own first.

Agree, let him play out his contract this year. Since he will only have 5 years of service in the uncapped year, he is still restricted and Dallas should tender him as such. After the uncapped year then franchise him. In all you get 3 more years of Ware at a discount if you don't get a team friendly long term contract with him.

Why mess with your defensive superstar? You afraid he is going to get worse? Sign the man give him his 100 million and lets move on

You got that right.

If you franchise a player like Ware, you may as well smack him in the face and then spit on him. Players absolutely hate getting tagged.

If a player does well for you, you should take care of them financially. Even moreso when it's a high character guy with the insane talent level of Ware. You give him the respect he has earned and give him the money he has earned.

Turn a good loyal player into a malcontent if you do that to him the next 3 years. I understand not getting it done this year but seriously working on it throughout the season and before tenders are given out next season if there is even a cap. But for 3 years? It'll be hard to duplicate what he did this year so how much more could the contract be.

I understand taking care of your own first but there is still a year on his contract and they are seriously talking. If things don't work out in a timely matter on both ends then Ware has nothing to complain or be upset about because the effort is there. It's when you don't bother and leverage the guy for the next 3 years when he is clearly outplaying his original agreement. That pisses good guys off. So neither are necessary. The deal doesn't have to get done now, but no quams if it does, and most certainly shouldn't take over this season to get done.

The franchise tag is a last resort, and teams usually use it when a player has one foot out the door. Ware wants to be here, Dallas wants him here, and he's the best player in football at his position. Pay him his money, keep him happy, and let him destroy QBs.

That's the key! They will be getting that discount for doing it a year early in addition to perhaps a small hometown discount.

Ware has little to no leverage for obvious reasons stated in this thread.

There will be a deal struck soon and it will be fair to both sides.
Ware will sign a loooong term deal for the highest total ever for a defender. I'm guessing 8 years 104-112 mil, 13-14 mil per year average.

guys, you get him signed now.

1. he is the best D player in the league, bar none!
2. he is hard working upsatnding character
3. if we tag him somebody WILL give two 1st rounders for him with a poison pill in the contract and we lose him.

Get er done now!!!

The Titans are about to lose Albert Haynesworth, because they didn't take care of their business at the end of the 2007 season. They offered $ 13-$14 million per year now and lost. If they would have done that sooner, instead of tagging him, he wouldn't be leaving.

If they had a redo on the 2005 draft, Ware would go number one. He's the best player on the team, imo. He's the best player in the NFL, imo. He plays defense, so he doesn't get the glory. I think Barbie makes more than him. What a joke.
