Why cant he take a cut some what like Tom Brady Did? Maybe the Big Contract he has, is to maximize romos money for a few Years then Restructure and Let another player Maximize and then continue the process all the while everyone is making money and players wanna stay? am i making an ounce of sense? sorry is this has been discussed b4. Its just all the talks about dez n murray having to leave sucks if there were a way to keep them, should romo not wanna have them stick around? not that its his decision but he could have some input...

He wouldn't actually take a pay cut. It would just be spread out over time. It still effects the cap, just over more years.

I asked this same question, when everyone was saying Dez should take less. If he should, Romo should lead by example and take less. Redo his contract or something.

So we can re-sign Dez, and Murray Easily. He knows damn well without Weapons, he won't succeed. Not at this stage in his Career. He's not Tom Brady.

Believe it or not, his contract is already a bit below market.
He has been restructuring each year to help clear room for new signing.
Also, the new TV deal is going to ramp up the cap going forward.
What seems high now may not be as much so later.

He already took less than Market Value at 16-17m a year. His contract will be restructured and save about 10m off of his 2015 cap hit of 27m.

His AAV is 18M, which is ~25% more than Big Ben or Tom Brady. It puts him 8th in the NFL.

That said, I think it would be wise to at least attempt to renegotiate his contract similar to Brady. Something that has more guarantees but less overall value. Sure, we could restructure. But there are other ways of doing it too..

That includes the last 2 years at 20m each. It was essentially a 4yr extension at 68m added to his 2013 salary of 11m. 5yrs 79m= 16m.

15m of his 17m salary is guaranteed already for 2015. It will be restructured but not reduced. He already made his deal and there is no reason to give any back.

His contract is built to be restructured for cap space for that very reason.

Simply by restructuring his deal, we should be able to sign both easily, so that's not the reason deals aren't done. The reason those deals aren't done is because the Cowboys and players are not in agreement how much they should be paid.

Right, and if we keep restructuring him, it increases the probability that he will be here for those two final year due to the dead money cap hit.

Tom Brady did not take a pay cut. They just moved around some money into bonuses to make room in the cap. The media fawned over it and made it look better than it was. It's also something Romo has done numerous times. He took a "pay cut" so they could sign Ware to an extension a couple years ago, and a couple of other times I believe.

You walk up to the guy playing with broken bones in his spine and suggest he gives more to the team. Some of you make me sick.

I'm sure the people saying it would jump at the chance. How many here take a pay cut tomorrow if your boss asks? Of course it would be for the betterment of the company you work for.

It is common knowledge that Brady's deal was not a pay cut.

He actually got paid MORE by getting it guaranteed.

He turned a 4yr 72M contract (AAV $18M) into a 5 year 70 M (AAV $14.2M) contract. I don't know what kind of math you are using, but to most that would be a paycut. Now, in agreeing to a paycut, he did require much more guaranteed money. But as it stands, Brady is averaging much less than other superbowl winning QBs. Specifically, Rogers, Manning, Flacco and Brees - who are all getting paid about $7m more per a year. Or, in percentages, a 50% over Brady.

Brady did not do a simple restructure - which is what you are alluding too. He signed a brand new deal.

Somebody on here made a video from dark knight rises. Romo was in video with the audio from the movies, "you've given them everything..... No, not everything"

Great to revive it after he wins Super Bowl.
