The Cowboys can't create turnovers AT ALL. That's why we can't win a game. A turnover at any point in the fourth quarter last night results in a win. Same thing for the Seattle and the New Orleans game.
At the very least, I think the Cowboys will have a new Defensive Coordinator after the season. Something has to give there. Waaaaaaay too much talent to not produce turnovers or any form of consistent pressure. A lot of turnovers result from the blitz which the Cowboys almost never do. The defense is so year 2000.
Even when the QB plays pretty well (and Cassel played very well other than the pick 6) this team still cannot hold a lead or stop anyone on the final drive of games. It's like a hot knife through butter.
One of the most productive defensive lineman spends most of the game on the bench - Irving. Who did he piss off? How does this guy not see more playing time?
The CB's and Safety's always seem to be trailing the open receivers as they run across the formation, and not by a step, by like four or five steps. Are they that slow of foot or do they just react slower than the average DB?
McClain is a shell of his last year self and always seems to move backwards on contact. He gets trucked, rolled jucked, and spun play after play.
I really felt like the Cowboys were going to win last night, especially after the FG bounced through. I was sure Bradford would screw up but he was never even pressured on the last dive, until the last play. Bradford was way too comfortable on the last drive of that game.
The Cowboys never catch even the smallest break. Compared to teams like Pittsburgh and New England who always get the beneficial bounce or fluke turnover or TD, the Cowboys never get it. EVER. Even the laws of physics should produce something every once in a while.
I'm not sure Romo can even fix this mess. He would have to come in and play the best football of his career to overcome the defensive deficiencies that always seem to creep in at the worst possible time and the Giants would have to completely fold. I think closer to 8-8 (again) is probably more likely.
