Why couldn't this team play without Tyron Smith?

I understand how much of an impact player he is, but the Cowboys had 3 other first round picks, with another guy who would have been a first rounder if it weren't for odd circumstances before the draft.

Chaz Green played well the year before, and then he blew it and his confidence was shot. Was it play calling? Was it o-line coaching? Both?

We could ........ just not with the people we had backing him up last year.

100% coaching.

other teams seem to still manage with injuries....we fall off a cliff.

Dallas decided to keep singling up Chaz Green instead of using the TE, RB, and all the pass plays known to man that can negate a pass rush.

That is why. It falls squarely on coaching.

We let a nobody tie an NFL record that day. I don't care if we had a blocking dummy at left tackle it should never get that bad.

Considering how quickly the team changed offensive line coaches it seems some culpability was there.

I think you hit the nail on the head about Green and his confidence being shot after probably giving up a couple sacks... And then there was no stopping the train.

I don't think we've heard a full explanation of went on that day in Atlanta.

To a certain extend you're absolutely right. Coaching has to take a brunt of the blame... I'm just not sure which one or ones.

It's like this... You're the coaching staff and you've seen Green play that position competently in training camp as he did substituting for Smith in '16– And playing at an acceptable level.

So what caused him to poop his pants against Atlanta?

I'm thinking the coaching staff was as shocked as any Cowboy fan at how bad he looked.

To some extent you have to blame the player also... Lead a horse to water... That kind of thing.

I remember they had Green at guard during training camp, and pre season prior to the 2017 season.

This may have affected him negatively. Because you're right, he played pretty well filling in, in 2016.

The player has to do the job sure but my gosh you have to recognize the problem quicker if you're the coaches.

They just kept letting it happen because of the lack of ability or stubborness to adjust.

Our coaches have to be better at projecting these types of things and what to do in those situations quickly. They are professional coaches.

I could understand if the local Middle School coach couldn't figure out how to adjust but these are supposedly professionals.

And the thing is that it was pretty well established Green was playing that week– So he received starter snaps in practice... And at least a couple of the Cowboy DE's are better than the guy that made Green's life miserable that day.

So what happened between the flight to Atlanta and the game to cause Green to completely fall apart?

This!

It was absolutely mind boggling. Last week in watching “All or Nothing” after about the 4th sack the next play they called a 3-TE Bunch formation, the bunch was on the RIGHT SIDE. I was absolutely stunned! You know what happened in that okay right? You are correct, SACK!

I don't really love the idea of position flex along the OL. I mean, if you want to go that way with Guard and Center, OK. That can work but I don't really think you can do that with Guard and Tackle. The positions call for to many different things IMO. Once you are playing a season at Guard, even just practicing at Guard, you are getting beat the hell up. Your feet do not move like they did when you were at tackle. Your hand placement, your leverage points, angles, even technique, there are just a lot of things. Maybe you can do it if you have an offseason to cut over but during the season, I don't think it's a very good idea. Teams do it to try and save money and roster space but I don't think it's the best way. JMO

I don't disagree with providing the help... If nothing else Prescott wouldn't have not been plastered all over the turf that day.

I would just love to know what actually triggered all that.

That's how this team rolls.

Smith gets hurt.........disaster.

Sean Lee gets hurt.......disaster.

Good teams are able to adapt when injuries happen. See Philly last year.

Not this team.

Which is why i'm fascinated to see how the pass game works out.

Right now... Dallas probably has the worst group of TE's and WR's in the NFL.

I will say this about the WR's though.. They are all good players but that's where it ends.

Tight End is going to be a roller coaster.

Good question. Perhaps he didn't eat his wheaties? That's all I got.

Honestly, it looked like he was playing with a hang over. Makes one wonder, if he snuck out for a hot date in Atlanta, the night before.

These WR's are not going to scare a competent secondary. I'm sure they will think they can handle them one on one and stack up the box to stop Elliott.

It will be up to Dak and the receivers to prove them wrong and force them to back off. We'll see if this happens.

all about the Coaching, everyone who watched the Atlanta game saw it, coaches didn't coach that game.
they had multiple options but started to notice too late (6 sacks in).
coaching and play calls killed them

I think if you have a guy that has played some games as a starter at one position, it's easier to transition him to another, but Green was relatively raw and they were moving him from LG, to RT back to LT.

Tyron is the top LT in the game when healthy is why...
