Why Did PFHOF's SC Push Hard For Stallworth But Not At All For Pearson?

According to Rick "Goose " Gosslein, (senior HOF committee member) the HOF voters had already had 2 Cowboys members selected inductees in one single year - Cliff Harris and Jimmie Johnson ... they were not gonna have 3 Cowboys members in the same year and risk a bias protest.

But Goose did say that Pearson being an All Decade performer should no doubt make it in next year especially with so much more controversy and sympathy this year on Pearson snub.
Bias protest formula = More than 2 individuals associated with one franchise getting inducted in the same year reaction

<chuckle>

Maybe Mr. Gosselin can shed light on the Class of 2020 inducting:

Bill Cowher
Donnie Shell
Troy Polamalu

--of the Pittsburgh Steelers' franchise?

Okay. Let's talk selection precedent on record prior to this year...

The 1963 ceremony recognized NFL greats of the prior four decades. The first group numbered 17. This year's ceremony recognized NFL greats from the league's 100 years of existence. Its number totals 20. However, those two groups are similar in another specific fashion. Let's look at some of the Hall of Famers from that first class and their primary franchise affiliation:

Chicago Bears
Bronko Nagurski
George Halas
Harold (Red) Grange

Green Bay Packers
Don Hutson
John (Blood) McNally
Robert (Cal) Hubbard

New York Giants
Mel Hein
Tim Mara
Wilbur (Pete) Henry

Guess it is an IMPOSSIBILITY for the Board of Selectors to name more than two members of a specific franchise during a special recognition ceremony because of a feared bias perception, correct, Mr. Gosselin?

Whatever. Time to read more illogical upcoming excuses reasoning.

Great point, I forgot or overlooked Donnie Shell being on HOF inductee list.

though I doubt those 1963 HOF panelist voters are still on present committee. :D

Pearson beat out Paul Warfield, Charlie Joiner, Steve Largent, Fred Biletnikoff and John Stallworth for all-decade honors. Sad.

I cut Largent some slack. Largent played only four years during the decade, while Warfield, Joiner, Biletnikoff and Stallworth played eight, ten, nine and six years within the 1970s respectively.

Plus, Warfield was named as a second teamer on the same all-decade team as Pearson. Warfield came in second place behind Pearson (and Swann) but arguably only by a hair. :p
