Going to a rookie in crunch time is not that good of an idea, IMO. What's wrong with going up high to Dez or Escobar? They can't double both, or better yet, why not run it?

Isn't Escobar a rookie as well?

It doesn't matter what his skill set is, when the coaching staff doesn't know how to utilize them. It wasn't that long ago, many of those same things were said about Marty B., big, athletic, great red zone target.... When Marty B. didn't produce to expectations, people blamed his lack of focus, work ethic, etc. He goes to NY and played reasonably well and now in Chicago and he seems to be playing well. Was it the player or how that player was used? Personally, I think it was more about inadequate play design and how that player is used.

I think Escobar was a bad pick, but not because of the player, but more about what the team's urgent needs were and the team's current offensive philosophy is. The offensive staff hasn't shown any ability to design effective 2 TE sets, so his talent will go wasted and thus a wasted pick.

There's nothing wrong with it but at the same time he's out there. He needs to contribute. I'm not going to scapegoat Garrett because of Terrance Williams rookie mistake. I'm sorry. That can't happen.

If they are going to put him on the field, he's a target.

I'm a bit sick of these kinda of threads. We are 4 games into his rookie season, and he had a TD last game and was close to a second. Seriously, can we not act like reactionary prima donnas after ever loss? It's getting old.

Honestly I never liked the pick, when is witten going to retire? Your second round pick should be contributing on an 8-8 team.

Dallas spends most of their time in 3 wide.

I really don't get the high emphasis on 2 tight when you don't really use it.

I really feel like half the "fans" here root for a loss so they can have a reason to post about a draft pick they don't agree with like that justifies they are correct.

If Escobar was our main hope going into the game then we have bigger problems. Get over it.

Dont blame the scouts if your team cant figure it out, go see how the Bears are using Bennett. That is what we are supposed to be doing.

Spot on.

If there's one thing Escobar should be able to do it would be line up and win on a jump ball.

Because after last season we were only one backup tight end away from the Super Bowl!

Too bad JG has no idea how to play basketball. You have these big guys who can just post up the smaller DBs and out jump/muscle them for an easy TDS but instead, JG wants to get cute and run a WR screens.

I was thinking the same thing: we lost this game because of our third string TE.

When you have witten now was not the time to draft for luxury. Where is the vaunted 12 offense.

Ha ha, this pick is just so typical of the cowboys..So typical...With all our problems, we draft a TE that high. Gotta love it...And you wonder why this team stinks every year

you don't get it. It's where we drafted him and all the needs this team has, a TE in that round was NOT what we needed.....that's what we are talking about....Succesful teams are built through the draft, it's very important...We can't afford to keep making mistakes in the draft..It effects you for years to come....I'm not talking about how it effected this one indivual game, that's not the right way to look at it......It was a bad pick for a team that had so many other holes to fill
