Why did we trade Fasano, again?

Jerry traded a '06 2cd round pick in Fasano for a 5th round pick (or something close), then uses a '08 5th round pick on TE John Phillips. Anyone see logic in that chain of events?

Why wouldnt you just keep Fasano and let Bennett earn his position? Jerrys Philosophy has at least 3 holes including, What if Fasano becomes a stud (7TDs), What if Bennett doesnt pan out (Becomes a UTube star) and what is to be said about good ole fashion competition on this team?

Is Bennett so great that competition is beneath him? ...or is the GMs ego so shallow that he doesnt want his horse to lose, head to head?

How would you feel going into the season with Witten, Fasano and Bennett? There was no reason to Trade Fasano!

They didn't know they would end up with Bennett when they traded Fasno. They may have had him on their list of possible picks, but you can't predict that he would actually be there when their pick came up.

Fasano sucked in Dallas. He was bad. He was supposed to be NFL ready when he came to Dallas and familiar with the offense because of his experience with Charlie Weiss. He was very ineffective and did not even do a good job of blocking. He had 1 TD in two years in Dallas.

I think Dallas was going to end up cutting him at some point last year, so the fact that they traded him for anything was a positive.

Is he a stud? Sure he scored 7 TDs for the Dolphins, which is good. Can he do that again this season? He has not yet become the clear #1 TE for Miami. He and Martin are co #1 TEs in their offense. They even looked at creating a receiving threat in Ernest Wilford as a TE before cutting him last week.

Oh yeah I'm REAL upset with the move by Dallas. What a bonehead move by the Cowboys. They got rid of a guy who was addding practically nothing and upgraded the position with a guy who, even when he is sick, makes more plays in one half of a preseason game than Fasano made in 2 years here if you include every game he played in.

What a bonehead move.

Fasano certainly blossomed in Miami. For whatever reason.

We are ridiculously deep at TE and probably had a couple starters there before Martellus showed up and he looks to be a starter too.

Fasano was a Parcells steal...Miami raided our roster same as New Orleans did the year before :D

Ok let put this in perspective for you we have the best TE in the game as the started Bennett as a rookie with limited snaps

20 Catches 283 yards 14.2ypa 4 tds

Fasano year 3 with more snaps than Bennett put up a whopping

34 Rec 454 yards 13.4ypa 7tds

gee we sure got smoked giving him up :lmao:

Not a good start to the season for Fasano. He had 2 receptions for 10 yards and 2 fumbles both of which were lost.

Yeah he looked as awesome yesterday as he did here the two years he was here. Outside of the fumbles. At least for us he didn't fumble away the very few plays he actually tried to make.
