Why didn't we throw any quick slants against the blitz on 3rd Down?

I think I only remember one to Witten.

How many times did we see Irvin burn the Eagles on 3rd & 7 to 10 yds when they blitzed, with Aikman checking off at the line, and Irvin breaking off the pattern across the middle?

Also, I think I only saw one rollout to help alleviate the pass rush.

And by the way, while we're at it, can we please change the kill gesture for max protect at the line - the entire universe knows what we're going to check to ... ???

Our adjustments were horrible - we never handled the blitz.

Jim Johnson called a heck of a game on the other side of the field.

Because our slant over the middle guy (K J ) is now in Carolina.

Sorry, we've got Witten and Owens.

I've seen both catch the quick slants.

We didn't roll out much, run screens much, or run many 3-step drop plays.

We simply did not adjust to the pressure much.

Of course, it might have helped if we could have blocked someone (anyone) on their D-Line.

I am growing quite weary of our game-time coaching adjustments.

because both the QB and coach are too pathetic to adjust to what the D is doing

Yeah I was also thinking that same thing. They didn't probably because Bledsoe along with the staff were dazed and confused about the Eagles blitzes.

I was wondering the same all game. Looked like the corners played inside for the slant however.

Also thought the 3 step fade / streak was needed with the way the corners were up...finally got to see one to TO in the 4th. Seems like that was there all day.

I have to wonder if the whole passing game plan by committe thing is flexible enough to make game adjustments.

Aikman threw one of the best slants I've seen, and Irvin was extremely good at catching them. Throwing the slant is not one of Bledsoe's strong points.

what happened to the double TE sets to help protect bledsoe , there was a lot of talk before the season started the we would run a lot of 2 TE sets to help protect bledsoe. bledsoe was bad today, missed oportunity to TO on the int late which should.ve been 7 , and i agree we did not adjust to the pressure, not enough screens , quick slants , draws, anything to slow down the blitz. im very dissappointed. i sure hated this loss.

if u cant throw the slant then you shouldent be a QB....Bledsoe sucks the only pass i saw him throw today that was good was the fade to Owens and the Deep pass to glenn at the end of the game

Bingo. It's a six yard sharp break for the receiver who then has to adjust to the ball behind him.

The Eagles would come either to a side or (more often) up the middle. Two TEs on the edges dont help when the the guard and center have three or four guys coming in their gap. A typical blitz brought two extra guys in to keep the off side guard busy allowing four guys in a gap. Howard had a great game mostly because he shot the inside gap with a LB over the LG and DT on the inside of him as well.

Actually, Aikman and other quarterbacks have said that throwing an accurate slant is alot harder than people think. It has to be thrown fast and on the button, because the WR has no time to adjust if it isn't. Contrast to a deep ball, where the wide reciever can make the QB look good by adjusting to the ball in flight.

any pass play that uses the word "quick" was deleted from the playbook the moment bledsoe was inked.

also, quick slants don't allow bledsoe to pat the ball the mandatory three times.

pat, pat, pat... INC

pat, pat, p... FUMBLE

pat, pat, pat... INT

pat, pat, p... SACK

hey, but i'm not bitter.

So you line up Fasano at H-back, and have him assigned to the hot LB.

... of course, I didn't see Fasano block anyone today ...

except on that one TO quick-out completion.

my thoughts as well, I think that Drew called for protection all game pre-snap which seemed to leave the "stay-in" guys mostly out of position for where the eagles brought the heat. They actually picked up a lot well in the early in the game when the eagles came from the one side but had trouble getting the middle blitzs blocked.

I didnt feel good with play calling all game, but I did like the way they stayed with the running game.
