Why didn't Zeke run more?

well, here is a sample....

Cowboys 3rd downs & yards to go versus CAR:
- 3rd and 21 (penalty) then 26
- 3rd and 12
- 3rd and 10
- 3rd and 11
- 3rd and 7
- 3rd and 3
- 3rd and 11
- 3rd and 11
- 3rd and 7
- 3rd and 18 (penalty) then 23
- 3rd and 7

so basically you abandon runs on 3rd downs. that's about 4-5 runs a game to convert...and that also means you are in 2nd and long most of the time, so you are forced to pass more...

this was a failure of game plan, specially in finding success on 1st down. with Williams an undersized rookie LG and Fredrick out...we didn't change or adjust the game plan, we tried to shove the ball down their throats...against one of the best DLs and front 7s in the NFL....

Yes we did.

On the bright side, it did tell us all we need to know about Williams right now.

You say things like "change" and "adjust" like you've never seen this coaching staff. Do you remember the Atlanta debacle where they flat out refused to give Chaz Green help and got Dak killed?

Well they also couldn't pass. When they tried running outside with Zeke on the first drive Kuechly showed that wasn't going to work, either.

Well, this isn’t rocket science. They keep putting themselves in bad down and distance situations. It’s been an ongoing issue for years with this club. They must be disciplined and quit shooting themselves in the foot with penalties, short or negative gains on first downs, and stupid incomplete passes, sacks or missed opportunities when a big play is there to be had. Even still...get the ball to Zeke more, even if he gets 2 yards on first down as he wears on a defense and then starts breaking away. It just gets old watching one of the best RBs in the league get underused. At least get him more involved in the pass game if anything.

They didn't run more because Zeke hardly got any real yardage except a few carries. The moment the O line regresses is the moment that the offense looks like trash.

Not much you can do when you build an offense that is only capable of running the ball. Only way to change things up when the running game stalls is to quick kick.

We’ve never been accused of abandoning the passing game even when the pass isn’t working.

Imo we should abandon the 2 TE sets completely, our TEs suck at blocking .3-4 WR sets and spreading out the defense will help out both Dak and Zeke.

We need to go 5 Wide very often...

Penalties killed the early drives. Starting 7 carries for only 18 yards was probably a reason.

They threw to him out of the backfield but he couldn’t make one corner miss to get the first down.

I would have ran it on 3rd and 99.... still better chance of getting a 1st down then passing lol

Yup, they tried to keep the same basic offense they had when Hanna and Witten were here but Jarwin and Swaim are not those two. Time to lean into the swerve, we'll see if Linehan actually learned anything.

Well in reference to the TE’s the fear with Rico is he can’t block

Well shucks seems to me he’d fit right in

ACTIVATE!!!

That game made Dak the QB he is today. He has been looking at the pass rush and has gotten happy feet ever since that game. It's hard to believe that our idiot coaching staff may have ruined a promising young QB in one game.

Simple: 1st 4 series ended because of 2 penalties and 2 sacks. When you have 2 and 17 or 3rd and 22 you pass generally. After that they were playing from behind. Complicate: Linehan sucks or Garrett sucks or Jerry sucks.
