Why do jerry & stephen drag their feet and wait on new deal?

why do they keep doing this all it will do is make it more expensive the price isnt going to go down

i do not understand

i know it take two to tango or what ever and the player have to actually sign the contract but i still do not understand why they keep doing it over and over with these new contract for player they are obviusly 100% extending
They know the consequences and yet they continue to do this. The only rational explanation is that they don't care about those consequences. They'd rather have the hype than the discount. Your guess is as good as mine.

Why do they pay all of their star 1st round picks after their 4th year instead of their 3rd year? Players they know they're going to extend. Yet they wait the extra year knowing it's going to both costs more, and result in higher cap hits. Yet they do it anyway.

I was NEVER on board with trading Parsons. You won’t find one post of mine even insinuating it….but after this Garrett deal, and considering where the rest of this roster is at….I think it has to be considered.

Im sure dealing him is not a popular opinion at the moment but after they win six games this season, things may change.

It’s not so much about the draft picks but is tying up 100m annually in two players really a good idea?

In this era you really need to seize the opportunity when you have several top performers on rookie deals and they chose to go cheap. Didn’t win and this is where it ends up anyway. It’s called not being good at this. Frustrating. Keep trying to talk it into existence. Clock is ticking on that one Joneses.

My answer would be what I posted in #17.

That and they aren’t good at being NFL GMs. Either one, potentially both.

100% of the problem - the Jones Clan thinks they are the smartest people in the room.
This is still a negotiation and does anyone doubt his agent is set upon making both them top shelf millionaires?

Dallas needs I hardly thing the agent is offering up. The Cowboys are trying to use those cap amounts available as well. It's not Jerry and Stephen wake ups. The new staff has some push now with needs.

They are in no rush to make the team better. There is zero urgency.

So, Trey Hendrickson will get around $38MM AAV on his deal next, after leading the League in sacks. Then Dallas will end up making Parsons the highest paid non-QB because they have no choice. Smh...just the way the Jones boys like it.

Dallas needs - I hardly think the agent is offering up mutual benefits, needed by Stephen right now. (cleaned up) damn computer

Good post. I was originally going to respond with a similar post. Clearly, they don't have a paid GM whose job it is to do these things. There is no urgency, there is no fear of consequences. But you went into a little more detail as to what could be happening. Imagine if Jerry hired a GM and they did what Jerry is doing right now? Jerry would bounce him quick.

My honest guess…..and being completely serious…

I think keeping that huge signing bonus in their bank account and/or earning money in other businesses instead of forking it over to the player is a big factor.

Delaying handing like a 50m check to a Prescott or Parsons for months or years probably earns them millions elsewhere over that time period, and a cheapo like Stephen pays attention to that. They don’t care about how it affects the team because winning isn’t the top priority.

Being the GM AND the owner is a massive conflict of interest in several ways. Just one of the many obstacles Jerry and his act have created.
Excellent post.

Because they don't want to pay him because he isn't a sheep that Jerry can control. Jerry hates the idea of him being challenged by Parsons to bring in FAs or he will be leaving. I really think they might trade Parsons for what they can get. They can't afford to pay a top tier pass rusher when their paying top tier money to a trash QB.

Easy……None of the Jones are full time GM. And to be honest they both are terrible GM’s so they wait for the market to set and then hopefully slot their player in it somewhere.

I actually think it's because they are constantly unsure.. afraid to both do or do nothing. Jerry loves deadlines because it forces him off the uncertainty fence and make a near random choice.
